Raeda
Okay, so this doesn't sound too much related to WoW until I read this article on the BBC. Basically, Microsoft found a flaw in their Windows software that would exploit animated cursors to run malicious software. They rated this as highly critical and released the patch this Tuesday outside of their normal release schedule. Apparently, this flaw is used to exploit the way WoW's cursors run and captures user data to steal accounts. Oh fun joy! Install the patch now! You should get it through Windows Update over the next few days (I've seen the update show on a few computers in my lab already, and not yet on others - Windows Update is odd that way ). Huato
Windows Update is a per-machine thing. You have to hit each one to make sure it is set the same. This is especially true if someone has admin rights and gets sick of the pop ups and disables it or changes it on you (known to happen almost everywhere). Maube
hmm... I had an update run last night - was this it? How do I check?
Raeda
If you got a Windows Update this week, that was most likely it. Just run Windows Update and see if any new ones are available if you're not sure. If nothing new comes up, you should be covered. To check and see if it is installed, go to Add or Remove Programs, check the 'Show updates' box, and you should have a security update with the number (KB925902) in the list. Waldonnis
FYI, the original patch had a problem with the Realtek HD sound driver control panel, which would pop up a (really deceiving) error message on login. If you have a motherboard with one of Realtek's built-in HD sound chips and have an error pop up like: Rthdcpl.exe - Illegal System DLL Relocation The system DLL user32.dll was relocated in memory. The application will not run properly. The relocation occurred because the DLL C:\Windows\System32\Hhctrl.ocx occupied an address range reserved for Windows system DLLs. The vendor supplying the DLL should be contacted for a new DLL. ...check this article as well for a hotfix: CLICKY
