New build day...wheee! As usual, some bugs fixed and some new ones appear!

Notable Bugs:

  • Some get a client crash on initial login after downloading this build. If so, delete (or rename) the Cache folder inside of the Data folder in your beta install directory to clear this up and allow you to get into the game.
  • Hilarious bug with paladins and mount speed going on, allowing paladin mounts to go extremely fast. From what I can tell, this may just happen to those who have the Long Arm of the Law talent, but I haven't done too much checking. It's really funny, though. It's Crusader Aura :lostit:
  • Worgen creation results in a "Failure" error with some (most?) of the new skin colour settings. If this happens to you, try a different skin colour setting.
  • Some goblin-related issues going on that are causing client crashes (and possibly server issues). Blizzard has disabled goblins completely for now until it's fixed. Note that they won't even show up on your character list (doesn't necessarily mean they're gone, just disabled).
  • There is a HUGE bug going to the Maelstrom for the first time right now. Apparently, when you zone in, you do so underneath the terrain and die. Trying to resurrect will just lead to repeated deaths. There is a trick that sometimes works to escape from the cycle, but it's not worth it for now. Just avoid trying to head to Deepholm/Maelstrom for now.

Notable unfixed bugs from the previous build:

  • Journeyman riding is still unavailable on the trainers for certain races (notably goblins, but a few others have seen it as well). This appears to only happen to Horde characters so far, but not sure.
  • Fishing may need to be retrained again...again again. You won't lose any skill you have, but it's still acting funky. If you need to fish, re-purchase the skill, but otherwise it's probably safe to wait (I'm often the only one nuts enough to want to fish a lot anyway).
  • Some characters are STILL unable to open certain crafting skills (for me, it's Artisan First Aid).
  • Guild permissions are still very wonky. As before, I will try to fix the bank perms, but can't make any guarantees until the UI cooperates.
  • Goblins, mounts...do I even need to say it again? The felsteed bug is back (possibly intentional this time). Pick up blacksmithing in Org or Dalaran, then talk to the weaponsmith nearby to learn the felsteed mount.
  • Some characters may have to respec to get their talents enabled again or see the proper amount of talent points. Consider this standard practice for new builds that introduce new talents or shuffle existing talents around.
  • Slotting glyphs doesn't work properly. Trying to overwrite or apply new major glyphs results in the top slot getting overwritten. Slotting minors doesn't work at all (bug carried over from last build).
  • Barber shops are still not working >:L

General:

  • The feedback UI is working again! Time for me to submit the zillion tiny bug reports I've been storing up.
  • Abandoning quests works again as well (a bug in the Feedback UI code was causing this before).
  • Worgen creation now shows human form as well, but does not allow additional customisation to the human form. A few skin colours were added, from what I can tell, but that's the extent of customisation that I've found.
  • Worgen have ears again! First it was faces disappearing, then ears. Wonder what will vanish next!
  • The Moonglade quest teleport bug (for the Mt. Hyjal intro quest) that was causing characters to get stuck appears to be fixed.

Zones:

  • Many zones have gotten further updates to their world maps.
  • More dungeon maps were added/tweaked.
  • The fog of war seems to be enabled on a few other zone maps now and never clears up on some of them, even when the areas are discovered.
  • Orgrimmar:
    • The mailbox fairy has arrived and dropped a crapload of new mailboxes around. Enjoy!
    • A little more work has been done on the new barber shop location (no more fruit baskets), but the chairs and such aren't rendering properly due to terrain overlap.

    [*]Deepholm:

    • Forgot to mention this last build, but some of the Therazane PH dailies are no longer PH and work as intended now.

    [*]Thousand Needles:

    • Some of the Twilight areas and Highperch now have mobs (and possibly quests). The zone still doesn't appear ready for testing, however.
    • The River Boat works again! Wheee!

    [*]Bilgewater Harbor:

    • All doodad and terrain texture bugs have been fixed (finally), so no more gaping holes to fall through or get dismounted by.

    [*]Twilight Highlands:

    • Two of the invisible walls were removed, so the zone is open for scenic tours, but not for questing.
    • Beware, however. There are a TON of graphical problems in this zone still. You most likely will crash many, many times during your tour if you go there. Worst case, lower your graphics settings all the way and escape ASAP.
    • Also, the mobs in the zone are level 85 for the most part (and some do throw boulders at you while you're flying), so be careful.

Classes:

  • Shaman:
    • Elemental has a few new talents and at least one removed. The new additions allow for additional lightning shield charges to accumulate and allow the shaman to "unleash" the damage of all of the orbs' damage against an enemy. I didn't pick this talent up yet, but will play with it. Could add some use to shields for elemental, although there are likely better spots to spend the talent points.

    [*]Paladin:

    • See the Notable Bugs section for a funny one regarding paladin mount speeds.
    • Not sure what else is new, but I'm still poking around. I know there were some changes to how holy power can be gained, but I need to sift through the info.

    [*]Druid:

    • Balance specialisation adds a new specialisation passive spell - Moonfury, which increases arcane and nature spell damage by 25% and increases crit damage by 100% (thank god this isn't a talent investment any longer).
    • Moonkin form now buffs the druid's arcane and nature spell damage by 10% in addition to the other benefits.
    • Furor FINALLY got moved out of restoration and into the feral tree (after how many years?).
    • Heart of the Wild was moved over to restoration where Furor was (makes sense).
    • Thorns is now a very short-duration buff and has a cooldown. Damage was increased significantly, though.
    • Not sure when this happened, but Soothe Animal was redesigned. It's now named Soothe and it acts like Tranq Shot, dispelling all enrage effects. It's also not restricted to beasts any longer.
    • Fungal Growth is finally not tagged NYI, but doesn't seem to work yet. Could be that there's just no graphics in place yet, but I haven't had the chance to test if the snare effect is working.

Professions:

  • Many primary and secondary professions are working again, although many are still very wonky and spotty.
  • Engineering can be trained again for new characters. Previously, only the second rank could be learned.
  • Archaeology and new profession stuff is still NYI - kinda. Alliance has an archaeology trainer, but Horde does not (yet) and even the Alliance one doesn't do anything. Some professions (namely tailoring) may have new patterns available for training on Dalaran trainers.

User Interface:

  • Spell flyouts are working entirely now, including mage portal/teleport flyouts.
  • A new option for which monitor WoW should run on has been added to the video options, as well as a few settings for the maximum framerate CVARs (still a work in progress).
  • A new UI scale dropdown was added, but it doesn't seem to make any sense and does strange things. You may want to avoid this one for now.
  • A new indicator was added below the minimap to indicate when the client was downloading/streaming content. It doesn't appear to work properly quite yet, but it's hard to tell.

Edit: Added info about Soothe in the Druid notes.

Edit 2: Added info about Fungal Growth in the Druid notes.

Fun side note: there's a new companion pet available that looks kinda like the Teldrassil Sapling named "Withers". Alliance can obtain him as a reward from a quest in Darkshore, but I found out that he's available to buy by Horde as well! The NPC vendor is in a little cave just SW of where "Ruins of Mathystra" is printed on the map (looks like it's at the end of the river there). The cave itself is behind a waterfall, so it might be hard to see at first. When you enter, bear left and down the ramp, then continue going left. You'll see the little vendor guy next to a little chemistry lab table. Withers is BoP, but not limited supply.

So far, I haven't gotten him to emote anything, but he does shrink over time. Dunk him in some water and he spruces right up, though (pun intended). You can also resummon him to get him back to full-size, but that's not as fun.

Small update: A couple of us did some testing with Withers today. He seems to be initially summoned with "full water", then slowly dries out (and shrinks). When he gets to a certain size, he'll suck the water right out of any other Withers in the area (if they're at "full water" still), grow again, and emote that he absorbs the water. I haven't tried to use emotes on him yet to see what he reacts to, but it's on the list. He doesn't dance, that much I know :lostit:

Update 2: Dunking him in water does nothing after all. Guess that was just a quirky false-positive of some other condition that I haven't figured out yet. Gonna test emotes while I'm out fishing a bit today and see what goes.
