Rumblebore
I have mentioned this to Qque and sent a tell to Eldy (who did not respond) but all officers need to know this. Yesterday someone invited Debrainy into the guild. This Enchanter sent me a tell about 1.5 hours prior to my first seeing him in guild chat asking me to come and invite him, unsolicited and from out of nowhere. I asked him who he was and he told me he knew Uulweas and Rebma. Rebma was on so I asked her about him. She asked me to promise not to tell Debrainy but that her opinion of him was poor. He tends to tank a lot (as an enchanter) and dies a lot. She mentioned he often left many corpses in a single area (which I recall having seen his corpses all over Norrath – seriously, I really do recall seeing his corpses a lot). She called him a whiner. I decided that he didn’t sound like guild material. Debrainy then went offline so I couldn’t give him the bad news that he needed someone from the guild to “sponsor” him as a candidate. Then I went onto an alt. I came back to Rumble later and there he was in guild. 2 things I want to address with this post. 1) – Who invited him and how did he contact that officer with a request to be invited?? Give the story please. My guess is that no one sponsored him. 2) – We NEED a structure for guild invites set in place. I recommend the Lux et Veritas Charter listed on their website and how they invite people be read by all. Lets borrow and adapt parts of it to our needs. (Lux et Veritas link is -- http://www.luxveritas.net/ ) I will no longer invite people who contact me directly with the intent of asking me to invite them. I will ONLY invite a sponsored candidate (a guild member must vouch for them that they believe the person will be an ASSET to the guild) or I will invite someone whom I have known and know will become an asset to the guild. In the latter case, I become accountable for that person and am willing to help that person grow in the guild. I am disappointed that Debrainy made it in the guild so easily. I hope the inviting officer asked a lot of questions first. If not, please learn from this. Please don’t take this wrong, I just want to make sure we get good quality people in the guild and not people who are running their character as if it is another class. We now need to keep an eye on this person and take corrective action when necessary.
Saite
I did not invite this person but it sounds like someone needs to have a talk with him and maybe tell him that he is on a two week probation and after that time, we will decide if his membership will be permenent. Krung
Greetings all, to answer your question I invited debrainy into the guild. I did so on recommendation from Mcmichael. I would not invite anyone into guild without a sponsor. Debrainy was a member of TKO also, I have never fought with him and did not know his standing in TKO therefore would not of invited him without the sponsorship. I respect and hold Rebma's opinion very dear and I will contact Debrainy and let him know of the 2 week trial period. If he proves to be a detriment I will personally ask him to guild remove himself or have Eldoran do it. I must admit to having alot of Reservations at this point on the wisdom of my invite but all mistakes can be mended. I was newly made Officer in TKO (right before the merge actually) so if I make a few mistakes please bear with me and feel free to give any Constuctive criticism you feel is needed. Lotara
Hello, I was on when Mcmichael asked Krung to invite, or any officer, and Krung was only one on. He said he had been a member of TKO. I was on as one of my other characters at the time. Lotara is on one account and Zannette is on another. So I often play one or the other. Anyway, I think that is a great idea to have a new member forum so that a sponsoring person can ask to have person invited and one that we can all see and respond too. That only people in guild can see. And a time period set. We also need to get all members on the roster and get them to check the web pages and forum periodically. But this is a whole new topic of how to make SLoTs Webpage more user friendly. Regards, Lotara (Tara) aka Zannette (Zann)
Eldoran Nobleheart
As always my answer to this will be real short, sorry but it has to be that way hehe. I find no fault in anyone for inviting Deb in the guild because he was from TKO, and to be perfectly honest i belive i havent truly went over all policy's with all the officers. I will amend that by the end of this week. i would also like all officers to use this channel whenever u are on. slotofficers:alliance note the colon it has to be spelled like this /join slotofficers:alliance or u can type this and will will auto log u on everytime u log on /autojoin slotofficers:alliance then when u log off it will be added to ur ini file
mcmichael
hi,this is the first time i have been on here,so i just saw the messages about debrainy.i apologize about the invite, but i was under the impression that all former members of tko were on a to be invited list...unfortunately it seems i was mistaken.if htere is a problem with him,let me know and since i asked krung to invite i will take care of the problem. Rumblebore
Okay, with all that said, Then I have to say that Debrainy's invite was warranted as a former TKO member. My opinion was formed as noted and I tend to get huffy about things where it looks like people were not as thorough as I was. However, I was not thorough enough to determine that Debrainy was a former TKO. I withdraw my critique since I was in error. I do hope that we can come alongside Debrainy and encourage his gameplay of an Enchanter to less Melee oriented and more to the gameplay that make Enchanters more powerful and a real asset to raids. I apologize to McMichael, Krung and Lotara. I still have a lot of people to get to know. And I hope this doesn't spoil Debrainy's feelings about being in SLoT. If I need to apologize to him directly, I will. Please keep me apprised on this.
mcmichael
side note on former TKO invites, there were 2 former members of TKo that were not in good standing, one for begging, one for being gernerally a mean spirited person.one of them is lalaen/bashbig,and a couple of other chars i can't think of atm, although i still chat with him,his begging would be good for a guild reputatiion.the other is pitspecter,i personally had a bad experience with him,and he was rude to a number of ppl in TKO on only his second day in the guild...that being said,i think it is pretty much a given that neither should be invited should either approach an officer or another member in the guild....
