Working on another idea

Some time back, Lotara suggested a Scavenger Hunt.

I have sent emails to her with ideas and I hope we can come up with a great event.  This is my new project.  Rules will be simple and few, to make sure Qque will attend.  :p

Let us work out things and details.  Here is my initial S.H. Format, to be modified by Lotara and myself.  But we'll keep the rest of you abreast of any critical changes.

1) Maybe make it a full 6-8 hour event. Initially, ONLY Guild members will particpate.

2) It will be a Team event of no less than 4 people, and to give balance, the total levels that any group has must be somewhere around 150.  Thus 2 level 60's must play with 2 other players whose levels equals 30.  Points will be deducted for having over that number, points added for having less.  (this idea will be thought out better, but only is a working idea). This makes the average level of a 4 player group about 37-38.  It allows for alts and non mains so that you have opportunity to 'round out' your group, for some of those harder to get items (like heading into Neriak or Grobb or Ogguk, etc.)

3) No class restrictions.

4) The planes that may need to be visited will be all over EQ, with a probable restriction of NOT going to the Planes.  the POK is OK, but the PoT (and beyond) is not a place the Hunt will take you. Also, Hate, Fear, etc will not be zones you have to go to.

5) Some items/quests/info to be obtained may require a group to complete. Some may require a specialized class or race.  Who knows??

6) You can use your own money to get items or complete quests, etc.

7) Play Structure.  Teams wil be assigned a name by the judge(s) (basically, me and maybe a couple others).  Upon start you will be told where on the internet you can find the rules and Scavenger list.  Someone will obtain the list (or all of you if you wish) and then come back in to begin the hunt.  (This format may be altered -  I have a few other ideas floating around too.)

8) How you get around, how fast, what you do go after, is controlled by you and your knowledge of the game.

9) Some Scavenger items may require you to supply a judge with certain info to complete/continue on. Accuracy will be required or else the judge will DESPAWN for your group for a time......

10) Expect the unexpected.  Many Hunt Items will be easy for a level 1 to get, some may be hard (but no too hard) for a level 60 to get.

11) Rezzes are YOUR responsibility.

12) All 4 team members must be present at the finish line AS THEY STARTED the Hunt (Fully equipped - no nekkid players who just died and made it to the finish line accepted). Translation - You come fully equipped, you finish fully equipped.  Or else you lose points.

13) All Hunt items are worth points.  Easy ones are low points, hard ones much more.  There may be some near impossible ones to do, and there may be some that 'appear' hard.....(heh).  Most points at the end wins the Prize.

14 Grand Prize - This event DEMANDS a prize or prizes for each player.  I will work with Eldoran to make sure it is worth the players while.  MAYBE a second place position, etc.  Still in the rough stages.

15) Since points are what matters, then there may be penalties assessed for wrong items turned in, wrong answers, etc.  They will be minor, but they may mean the difference in a win and a loss. - Still to work this out.

16) There is the possibility of people using other people outside of any of the established groups to help.  I hope the people playing will get into the spirit of this event and self-police themselves.  ONLY those in groups should be working the Hunt, and ONLY those IN the group should be relied upon for info to help solve things.  I know you can privately send tells to a friend you have sitting next to his 2 computers so he can research allak's for you while you are running to the zone, but I hope that this will not happen. *sigh* but certain people may not abide by this.  I will try to structure certain Hunt items to not be able to effectively use outside sources to get some of the better point items.

So there you have it, a rough draft.  Plenty of freedom to pursue your own paths and to choose your own team.  The Hunt will be announced 1 week prior to Event and teams can be formed during that week.  The only structure that exists will be in when to start, Total Team levels, and when to finish and turn ins-counting points.

I will accept others assistance in working this out, but only from those who are willing to not play in the first Hunt.  I don't want secrets shared and I have a few ideas that will require Judges to sit out, yet to play some part in the Hunt.  Please let me know if you can help design this and to be a Judge.  Believe me, there will be perks for being behind the scenes.

Eldoran - I need to chat with you - I have an idea for the Grand Prize but need your input.

This one will be streamlined on rules and made pretty simple, and will allow low levels and high levels to group to win and a lot of competition.  I learned a few things from Fan Faire when they had the Live Quest and a couple of things they did will work into the rule structure.

Give me a couple of weeks and there should be something ready by end of month.

And keep this under your hat.  Later you can leak the idea and see what kind of response we get.  I think it will be a great event.

I'll be honest - I hope a few of the leaders will participate as 'judges' and McMichal (spelling please?) and Lotara should be enough (an odd number is good).  The rest of the leadership I would like to see PARTICIPATE.  You guys need to play too, and all the running around helping guildies, rezzes, problem resolution, etc., that you do, deserves a break like the rest of the guild.

And who says we have to do only one Hunt?  Another can be scheduled in a couple of weeks/months with a few different people 'judging' if this goes over well.

I will put you on the list of helpers if we need you though.  Thank you for offering.

I tried to send guild emails and they finally came back as undelived.  So I sent infor to Eldy, McMikahl and Rum again today.

I suggested teams of six (or meant to) as a way for teams to learn about other guild members and to have a variety of levels on the teams.  The teams would change for each SH.  That way we get more mixed groups.  The Group Leader would assure rules are met, and have a list of what (and how many) they have collected and also give items to Judges.  More experienced players will relearn how slow newbies run or swim *grin* .

I also suggested that we have first one on Antonica only and have a general SH.  Later go to other places and have say a Lucin Based SH, or have a Skill Based SH, Forage Based SH, and so forth.

Group leaders would be picked by SH Team and then group leaders would pick teams alternately, when we have all players there.  People cannot come late to this one.  Once Teams are picked by leaders, they would be announced and then the teams would assemble and plan strategies.  Players are expected to stay for entire duration, so 6 hours is too long.  An hour set-up, three hours for SH, and an hour to award prizes - so people would have to be there for about 4 hours and pick up prizes later.  It would help if we could have reservations for this first one, so we could start planning groups ahead of time and make last minute adjustments.

As you can see, the three of us need to get together to do more planning before much more is said.  So please keep all of this under your hats (or whatever).  Thanks

Regards, Zann

Zannette and McMickahl,

Use these forums to send me a personal message.  At the bottom of THIS post, there is a little envelope with a red stamp.  Click on that and you will be able to send me a Personal Message.  The nice thing about this way of communicating is that the message stays here and we receive notification as soon as we log in.

The outline you present here is good, but lets leave Eldoran out of it. He deserves to participate also and lets not spoil it for him.

I will send you a message that you can Reply to so we can get this ball rolling - but I will send it tonight, not now- Time to GO HOME!!

See ya soon.

leave me a post in this forum if you would like my help,
