Lotara
Please! Please! Please! Announce a big event like trying to get the flag for POI in the MOTD a day or two ahead and particularly on the day of the event. What: Where to Meet: Time to Meet: Approx time to complete: KEI needed or available at zone: Zann could have made it, as well as others, if we saw it when we first came on in the MOTD. I feel we need a PR person for the guild. To inform the guild of what is going on and to inform the Zone that we are in what is going on and be a central focal point for information. Rumblebore
I would like to say something about this post and last Friday night. I hope what I say is Constructive in the criticism I will offer, and will not be rude, insulting, nor divisive. Since I posted that my time in EQ will tend to be focused on my personal development of my characters, and I will GLADLY atend POSTED events, last friday nights Hate raid comes immediately to mind as an issue. The POI raid was to get flagged and was called by Eldoran, because the dragon was "up" and available. This is not a common occurence and needed to be acted on ASAP - I understand that. But the Hate Raid I did not understand, since NK was raiding the plane while we were there. I suddenly felt like WE were DoW on a certain failed SLoT Hate raid many months ago. I felt and thought this was wrong, but followed Eldy's lead. Eldoran DID post the raid, but I caught the posting before I left work. It was posted at 9:20 PM (which I assume is European time, since I left work at 2:30 PST that day and had seen the post before I left). (EDIT - I see that an 8 hour difference exists from the time I posted this message and the time listed at top. That makes Eldys post at 1:20 PM PST) In a nutshell, such LATE postings of an event is unlikely to draw many people and to come into the game and have leadership ask for me to join put me in a troubling position I did not like. I wanted to go but I really wanted to go to Velks and start farming silks for the 5th Shawl. I ALSO wanted to see if Lucan was up to help Bucephalus get the Blade for Soulfire. I decided to help the guild on the raid. The raid fell apart as we moved. I cannot say I am happy it failed, yet I was relieved too, because it was not my first passion that night. I decided after to check out (scout out) Crystal Caverns for my Chanter to visit and hunt in but died getting there (no invis - *sigh*). I have to thank Leanessa and Aaeodar for immediately coming to my aid. THAT was a wonderful moment and I appreciate their help immensely. The problem I see was the short notice given. Obviously, there are times where immediate response is warranted. Under the new Point system, getting 100% will obviously require being available almost always something happens. That can be tough - I for one will NOT be trying for 100%. But in general, advance notice of such raids needs to be planned a bit, at least I need them to be so, so that I can plan my RL time to coincide. I dont want to set the standard, but henceforth, for ME, Scheduled Events will get higher attention than sudden events. I ask that more events be scheduled and let everyone know (repeating from my prior post about my RL time, etc) that my in game time will be dedicated to improving my characters first, Guild events come after that UNLESS they are scheduled. I hate that change but I NEED my RL to take precedence and to make my EQ time as productive as possible. So, the final point is this - There will be events called on short notice because the situation warrants it, and we will lose the opportunity unless we move fast. Also, we need more scheduled raids and this has been mentioned, discussed, hammered out, and reiterated many times. Please, SOMEONE take this position, plan raids, schedule them and post them. I cannot do this on any regular basis, but will try to plan fun events like a scavenger raid, etc. But for the business of getting us to a raiding guild, we need a raid coordinator who plans events in advance, preferrably more than one person. There - I have spoken. I hope we move forward from here.
