Rumblebore
I discovered something and wish to share it. In my searching of what other guilds are doing I came across something that didn’t register at first but then I saw another guild doing similar and it sounds like a very easy idea to implement. Not a lot of rules, and you don’t need to have a lot of people watch-dogging it. It is called a Work Day. Listen to this idea first, okay? Alls we have to do is declare one day a work day for improving the Guild coffers and resources. It starts at 12:00 AM (EST) and lasts 24 hours. On that day, Guild members come into game knowing that WHATEVER they loot in coin or items will be turned over to the guild bank/mule. Of course certain understandable exceptions apply, such as No Drop items, Epic pieces and Quested items that the player has been working (Like the Coldain Shawl Quests), but otherwise, whatever is looted is for the guild bank. Now this is easy to declare and explain, and here is how it can also come off. People come in decide to go to LGuk and camp and loot the place. Whatever drops is given to Guild bank, to sell or distribute to people needing items. Maybe a trip to skyshrine or Gunthak and have a loot fest. The idea is really simple and works on the honor system, but it also utilizes all the resources of the guild members to contribute. Pieces that can be MQ’s can be included, etc. Post of what you think. I think a 2 week notice should be given so that people have time to warm up to it. Altarial
I think that could be a good idea, but it shouldn't be forced upon the members. Post it a couple weeks ahead of time like you said, but say that it isn't mandatory. Then, during the event, make a note of who attended. Those people will the the ones who get the benefit from it, for instance, if they need a high lvl spell and we have the money to help them in the bank, then they could get that extra bit of cash, while those who did not attend would not get that extra help. Hopefully, this way people will realize how beneficial this will be to the guild and be more encouraged to participate.
Rumblebore
Actually, I think it should be mandatory. It works on the honor system, and it should be a requirement that if you chose to play on that specific day (thus the 2 week notice is given; plenty of time to decide to NOT play that day) that whatever coin you gain, whatever drop you get, goes to the guild. Lets say we only do it once a month - that gives every player an average of 29 days per month to play for themselves. One day a month they play FOR THE GUILD. What else do we have going on that requires that the members participate? Nothing. People have the option of attending raids, but they do not benefit from it if they do not come. Lots of people didnt attend the Fear raid, or couldnt make it. Look at it this way - We know that ELDY spends a LOT of his play time working to build up the coffers of the guild - he has little time to actually play the GAME part. He is the main money maker for the guild. By doing this, we the members are intentionally working and required to work for the benefit of the guild. Sure, people in their 30' and 40's will not be able to contribute as much as level 50-60's, but the idea is to get people to INVEST in their guild. There are exceptions of course. Lets say someone comes on and they get a group of non-guildies in DL. they play for 3 hours then leave. Their obligation is to turn in the coin and drop items to guild for that day - when they leave they report to an officer that they will give XXX and YYY to the guild bank. They next day they play for another 3 hours and make plat and get items - those are theirs. This whole thing will help Eldy a little with the money making for the guild, and for getting items sellable. For example, I played a character this weekend in Sk at the Split Paw entrance, killing Gnolls. I remember looting about 10 Preserved Split Paw eyes, a dagger of dropping, and a pair of SplitPaw Hide Gloves. If this were a guild character and this were a work day, the loot and coin would go to the guild. If I had played either the day before or after, all loot or items would be mine. Maybe I would need to sell these under Trader Mode, and then turn in the plat. The point is that as a member, knowing that if I play on day XX I wil be hunting for the benefit of my GUILD is not a bad thing. If I dont want to do this, I can lie, not play, etc. I am not saying make it a heavy handed rule, but that we can dispense exemptions fairly. But otherwise, play to benefit your guild on day XX. I have no problem with this being mandatory - the guild benefits. I try to do things for my guild and my guild-mates. That is part of how I play. Many of us do - Thus I see no problem with mandatory guild Work days - you come on to Work for the guild. We can be fair in this, but it should be required that IF you come on and play you will do so to benefit the guild with loot and coins acquired, but the XP and style of play is yours. One idea I thought of is having a Mage summon levitate rings and go into trader mode for the day. These items are sellable in vendor mode and people do buy them. All sales of these rings on that day would then go to the guild. Etc. I know people will shy away from the word Mandatory, but heck, what ELSE are the people of the guild doing to fill our coffers with plat and items to sell? Besides Eldy and a select few? More discussion please.
Altarial
I like your idea better now that you brought up the fact that Eldoran takes the most time to build up the bank. I agree that it shouldn't be only his responsibility, and am kinda suprised that it is. I know that making it mandatory will cause some people to complain, that's to be expected, but you can't be greedy all the time. There's a certain person a couple of us have been having trouble with concering being greedy and guild group hoping, but I guess I'll leave that for another day I would like to try this out as soon as we can, rather than just talk about it for a while longer. It seems that many good ideas just fade away, but this will really help the guild bank out and should be carried out.
Rumblebore
Nods - In this case - I will wait only a few days. I definitely want Eldys take on this but hope others will be able to respond. I will gladly work with anyone to watch over this in regards to other events, and I see no problem with this being a weekday or a saturday, depending on other raids, events, etc. And it gives the industrious of us something to coordinate in game for. Why not head to SkyFire and hunt for Spell Drops? the guild needs those and some can be sold, etc...... Many good ideas, and yeah, people WILL squeek on this one. But it also helps us to get people to focus on giving back to the guild and keep it running. I just like this idea the more I think about it. ok - enough from me - others??? aaeodar
sounds fun and will be a good way to gather funds for sponcering raids i like it
Wallorn
Ok good idea. I know many times I have gotten spells as drps or what not and didnt need them and no one else did. So they went to waste basically. Our up and comers could benefit from this and Eldoran should not be the only one making money for the guild. I have never dipped into it or needed to but it could happen someday and I would like something to be there LOL. Anyways I will support this idea. Rumblebore
Unless otherwise needed for a raid, How about setting up Saturday April 26th from 12:00 AM EST (Eastern/Atlantic Time) to Midnight EST? Anyone one during those 24 hours, hunting, etc, will be expected to hunt for the guild. Any of the ideas i presented (mages summoning and selling, hunting, camping zones, or just grouping for XP and having all loot gained go to guildbank, etc) will work. Teleporting for plat, rezzing for plat, etc. Is this date OK? I will post on it in Discussion Forum once we agre on the date. Thanks Eldy.
