Raid rules

Recommended Posts

I wrote these up one day during a patch (i know i'm an addict).

Please lemme know what you think.

Raid Rules: These will be in effect every raid that I, Nurlaten, run. If any other officer wants to adapt these to their raids feel free. These guidelines should be very basic to everyone and most of you already follow them.

1. Starting time: Whenever I post a starting time on the website it is my desire to start fighting then. Please log on or leave current engagements a half hour prior to the raid start and start making your way to the destination. Join the raid channel when it is set up and notify me or the other raid leader that you are attending.

2. Uses of chat channels: In a typical raid you will be using 3 different channels and should adjust to each accordingly.

a. Raid chat channel, (this will almost always be /slotraid) this will be set up prior to the raid to get everyone on the same page, determine who is coming and to make groups up. Once the raid gets going it will usually be abandoned.

b. Raid channel (/rs): This will be used for raid commands (when to move, who is MA, etc), calling of heals, calling of assist and mezzes/ which mob to go after next. This channel should be strictly business, no jokes or idle chat should be going on here.

c. Group channel (/gs) This is where idle chat and jokes should be occurring, get to know the 5 other people on your group a little bit better on every raid.

3. Questions regarding anything: All raids will be posted on the website about a week prior to the raid, asking questions there will get the best response. Approximately an hour before every raid, I will be online and will make a chat channel, if you are coming to the raid or have a question about it, please join the channel and ask. If you have a question during the raid, ask your group leader in group say, if they don’t know the answer, they will ask the raid leader. The information will then be relayed to you. The raid leader shouldn’t get direct tells except from group leaders. If a question is missed in the chat channel, ask a second time, then send a tell. If the leader is so busy that they miss your question in the chat channel, do you expect them to have time for an individual response?

4. Going afk: It is your job to tell your group leader that you are afk. If you do not and the raid forces moves, you are responsible for getting to us, there will be certain raids where we will need to be constantly moving, this will be told ahead of time, and hopefully you can plan afk breaks around it. I know there are emergencies and things out of your control, and we will try to deal with those situations when they occur.

5. Listening: You must listen to your raid leader and group leader. It is impossible to individually tell 30 + people everything to do; it is your job to pay attention. It would help you greatly to customize your ui to allow battle spam in one area and chat in another, this way you won’t miss as many messages.

6. Assisting and breaking mez: If you are seen breaking mez or not assisting you will receive a warning in tells, if this occurs a second time you will be asked to gate out or be sent away by a wizard. We all know how to assist and we all know when to assist.

7. Raid loot policy: I’m sure this is what you are all interested in.

a. Tradable loot: This will all be handled by a main looter(s) appointed by the raid leader. The plat from sellables will be used to provide peridots and other reagents for future guild raids. Usable tradable loot will be explained in part c.

b. No drop gear: When the item drops it will be linked in the raid by an officer, if it is an improvement of your gear, you must send a tell to that officer containing a link of your current item in that slot. The officers of the raid will then determine who gets to loot it. This decision will be based on commitment to the guild, raid attendance, and how much of an improvement it is for the person. You must then (except some circumstances which will be dealt with when they arise) give your previous item to the guild bank. Ties in voting will be decided by the highest ranking officer on the raid.

i. Example: No drop war pants drop, 2 warriors determine that they want it, both send tells to the officer in charge of looting linking their current pants. The officers will then decide who gets the pants. The “winning” warrior will turn his or her pants in (provided they are tradable) to the loot officer.

c. The guild bank will frequently give out gear to members in exchange for their current item. These decisions will be based on the same reasons as the no drop gear. This is where tradable gear will be distributed.

d. Epic items: If the raid is set up for that person, they get it. Should extras drop or that person logged prior to it dropping or the raid wasn’t specific, the item will be given to the person farthest along on their epic. Ties or debatable situations will be decided by the officers.

Basically - So long as "your" raid rules are a mirror of the "Guilds" raid rules, I have no problem. We should really try to maintain CONSISTENCY in that area, so confusion will not reign. (Example - 'whine' - But on (so-and-so's) raid we did it this way........).

We need to make a uniform set of rules that we stick to, that allows flexibility for XP'ing, Pick-up groups, Epic Raids, Full Guild Raids, etc.

If we want to adopt these as rules for the guild that is fine with me, originally i intended them as a guildline for the ones i ran. If we all agree on them and no one has any problems, it would be wonderful if we had a official guild raid rules.

Ok guys, i appreciate all the "it looks good responses."

But i posted this here to get some criticism, i'm not perfect (pretty close, but not quite :) ) and i really want everyone's truthful opinion on these. I wrote them up rather quickly then spell checked, i consider this a rough draft, i NEED your imput.

If they are going to become the guild's rules, then they shouldn't just contain my ideas.

Next week i'm going to get balandar to link a copy of these onto the slot homepage as well as post them under the raid forum, i want these to be better than they are currently then.

So if something is ambiguous or needs a better explanation, please post. If it really is perfect, then i don't know what to say.

Nurl so you know this wasnt a ho hum response on my part...I did think they were good. Trust me I have an eye for flaws and picking things apart naturally...I would have noticed problems. If they dont work EXACTLY as specified just tweak em to fit np. No worries man.

as long as this is a GUIDE LINE it is good in my opinion...you/we cannot say what is going to happen at any given time and therefore we cannot say that THIS is how it is going to be run everytime.things come up....the guild's needs change and a raid (if ppl like it or not)is to benefit the guild for the most part.say our # cleric can be slightly improved with wis or ac or mana or hp...this item might be best going to our #1 cleric rather than someone that it would be a drastic improvement over our #6 cleric....not saying that is how it will go ever...but it is a thought...and that ppl should be aware of that possible situation,in the end,we are trying to become a teir guild and to that end we may appear unfair to many, but as we move up in raiding ability many more ppl will get better loot....but that will take time.that is my opinion.....
