Wallorn
Seeing how I have a very cold demeanor in RL it is hard for this stuff to be relevant to me. I worry that we may spend too much time online and may be loosing our ability somewhat to function on a more social lvl. If those people are lonely then this is great but they also need to be out and about. It makes me wonder how that part of their lives is going for them. Btw thanks for sharing Nova,
novawop
No problem. I understand that too. Synthania
I read this awhile ago and just now decided to reply. The first one I read was about peoples feelings and good things that have happened to them because of or with the help of EQ. The second time I read it it was about Guilds.... I will comment on the first time I read it now. The first few stories were very touching and hit home. They were about people with Problems and how the everquest world either helped them get through it or they had people there that cared and was a friend in a time of need. There were also Success stories. I know for me Everquest has been entertainment and a release. It is also the place that I met my Wife. Now most people would say What? are you crazy? Believe it or not this is not an uncommon thing. First people meet on the internet all the time... This just happens to be an even better situation because right off we have a few major things in common. Our entertainment choice is the same. Instead of trying to decide what to do its usually common place to come home and sit down next to my wife and start playing EQ (not that we dont do other things mind you) but this is one of our common things. Second its a release for both of us from the everyday worries that plague us all. Who would have EVER thought that I would meet such an awesome Woman on a game? One of the greatest things I think is that we sit Right next to each other so not only do we have the ability to be with each other it makes for awesome duoing capabilities. Instead of not being able to see what is happening to your partner if you have your back turned I can see her screen and know exactly what is happening so if she gets agro and My "character" cant see it I can and I can help out..... LOL it has saved her from death many times let me tell you and it has saved me from Death even more. lol We have also decided to let our oldest play (my daughter from a previous marraige) whom Rebma is more of a Mom too than my girls Birth Mom. She has started a Half Elf Druid, and my son has started a Frog Paladin. We have heard in guild many times about so and so's daughter playing or son or whatever and we decided to let them try it and they both love it. Anyway, I just wanted to say that I think Everquest is an awesome thing and to me its more than just a game its a home away from RL. So anyway on to the next topic Guilds..... Wow to hear these people talking it seems like I had written some of those stories myself. To be a part of a "big" guild that still treated everyone like family? Impossible they say. Well you know what? SLoT I think is one of those guilds. I mean yes this guild raids and some of us have Uber Items but you know what? you are not Required to attend if you dont want to. I know of a few members that dont raid (at least I have never seen them raid) and some just come for the atmosphere and conversation.I remember a time when SLoT Almost went pure raid and attendance but thank the lord the leaders changed their mind. It would have destroyed us I believe. While I believe alot of people want uber items and gear I think that they also want a "Family" they can count on when it comes right down to it. I think we can be both. I cant wait to watch it happen and to be apart of it. Rebma and I are excited to be part of the Family Keep raiding but keep it homey too. The leaders are doing awesome I think..... Synthania 51 Wizard
