Lord Ser Brightblade Posted February 9, 2002 Share Posted February 9, 2002 Looks kinda neat but will it be enough to keep people around UO with all the new MMORPGs on the horizon? Is is to little to late? There is still little if any incentive for veteran players. The rewards up to this date are trivial and since Seers and such are no longer part of the game dynamic content has really taken a nosedive. The current scenarios are somewhat interesting but nothing like the content of the old days when Seers were running events and doing things on the fly. A pity OSI hasnt realized perhaps it is time to bring back seers and use them in conjuntion with the scenario engines they have in place. Borg Posted February 25, 2002 Author Share Posted February 25, 2002 Actually...each shard will have the main development release "content scenarios" but will begin to forge their own shard specific history/content. This will be done via the new mechanics involved in the content scenarios.....new crystals of power are in place and more are coming. These will be set up in and around the realms...if activated by players via combat or discovery then they will set off chain reaction spawns and or events that will then CLOSE out other crystals OR delete them as possibilities. The overall new stuff will still come into play BUT the chain of events will be in motion. WE the player base and OUR ability to overcome as a group, army or realm will determine the ending of chapters and beginnings of new ones....in the history of Catskills Ultima Online. Borg Posted March 1, 2002 Author Share Posted March 1, 2002 NEW WEAPON SPECIFICATIONS Basics The Slayer Weapons were an unexpected addition, or rather an extension, to the world of Ultima Online. So far, the following facts are known: These items have been found only on greater creatures and confirmation from an OSI representative placed their rarity slightly higher than that of silver weapons. A Slayer Weapon will do double damage to the monster it was meant for. A successful hit with the weapon will yield a little white flash on the monster. All the Slayer Weapons fall into 6 groups. Each group has an opposing group. Weapons of a particular type are only found on their opposing group. For instance Balrons and Daemons will give Slayer Weapons that do extra damage to Elementals. When used against their opposing group, it will result in the monster doing double damage to the person wielding the weapon. For example, carry silver, and Repond creatures do double damage to you. Carry Repond weapons and undead creatures do double damage to you. Pick your opponent with care! Each group has a Super Slayer that will do increased damage to all monsters within that group. Slayer Weapons Chart Humanoid Opposing Group: Undead Found on: Bone Knights, Liches, Lich Lords Super Slayer: Repond - double damage against Ogres, Orcs, Trolls, Cyclopses and Titans* Other Slayers: Ogre Trashing - double damage against Ogres Orc Slaying - double damage against Orcs Troll Slaughter - double damage against Trolls * In Ultima III, Repond was a spell used against Orcs, Trolls and Goblins. Juka Slayer Bows The melee Slayer Weapons that come as monster loot are readily usable by everyone. But there's a special group of Slayer Weapons for archers that come as loot on Juka Lords. Those Juka Slayer Bows have these properties: When looted from a Juka Lord, they first have to be modified by a GM Bowyer before they can be equiped. A GM Bowyer modifies these bows by double clicking the bow and then targeting a gear (made by tinkers). A modified bow changes its color to a dark greyish tone. The bows may only be equiped with chars of at least 80 DEX and 80 STR. This refers to the unmodified stat, so you can still wear an armout that will drop the DEX below 80. Besides these special properties, the Juka Slayer Bows behave exactly the same way as other Slayer Weapons (such as dealing additional damage etc.). Weapons of Virtue "Weapons of Virtue" is another term commonly used for the Slayer Weapons. It was introduced by Stratics when these weapons appeared for the first time and no official statement was made by OSI. Due to the lack of an official label, the term "Weapons of Virtue" was created.
