Synthania
General Comments about the Game: This is a game. It just happens to be a highly social game and also, due to the large amount of people playing at any given time, it is highly competitive. Most who play EQ develop a list of things they want: Equipment, levels, skills, spells, abilities, Mobs, experiences, social interaction, etc. People live in different time zones and have different schedules as to when they can play. Ages vary, and levels of ‘maturity’ in how people interact can vary widely. Some people care about others, and some don’t. Motives are not always as easy to discern as in face-to-face communication. So, we have all these variables just playing the game. And then you add in the concept of a Guild, a place where people come together to interact and play together, to build friendships or just to have people with whom you can easily group with. It provides a structure to work within. Most of the time, the structure works. Sometimes, it does not fit some individuals. There is no one way of doing things that covers everyone’s needs and wants and goals. All that we can do is try to provide what we think is the type of atmosphere and structure that will help and benefit the majority of the people in the guild at any given time. That is our goal and purpose, but we too, as players and leaders, want our time to play also. We want and need to level, to pursue our goals and dreams. Hopefully, in the Guild we have and are building and improving, we can provide and participate in a structure that benefits almost all who join and meets most of the needs and hopes of our membership. And all that within the framework the game provides. We will fail you at times. We will not always be able to be where you need us to be when you need it. What we ask of our players is to develop 2 things for playing the game. 1) If you join Mystic Legions, please try to find a place within our membership that is comfortable enough to make you warm and happy to be with us, both as an individual and as a comrade and friend. Build friendships and be willing to help twice as much as you gain assistance. 2) Please develop a certain “self-sufficiency” that allows for those times when you may need something (like a CR) and no one is available to help. Keep things like plat to pay for a sow, port, coffin and/or rez. Be ready to go collect your corpse without help if it cannot be available to you at the time you need it. Be prepared to solo or seek pick-up groups if no one online in guild is available to group with you. Be prepared to play the game as an individual as well as group player. Be prepared to find alternate ways to c! omplete quests without guild support if it cannot be provided when you want it. Build friendships outside of the guild and nurture them. Sometimes, those friends will be available at the right moment to help you with your need. In all, we do hope we can be there for each and everyone who joins. We hope you can be there to help others when they need it. Reality says it isn’t always going to happen that way, and it can be discouraging. We regret that reality – but we aren’t going to give up trying to be the best community, the best Family, we can be for each other. We hope you would like to come aboard and join Mystic Legions. And come to contribute, to share and support each other, as well as to gain. To sacrifice your own goals when you can and the need is great enough, in the hope that when it comes your turn, the people will be there for you. A healthy family finds ways to cope and work through the differences and bad times, to give to each other and occasionally to receive, to grow and become stronger. We hope to provide this atmosphere, and still have lots of time for hunting, looting, killing and fun, fun, fun. We are Mystic Legions. Welcome to our family. ---------------------------------- Some things that need to be said, about expectations, ours and yours. What the leaders want and expect of membership: • We expect you are playing the game to have fun and to grow, at whatever rate you set for yourself. • We expect all members to be willing to join in and participate in the events, raids and grouping we do. • We expect all members to sign up at our website in order to be able to post, and to regularly visit the webpage to keep up to date on what is happening. Problems with registration can be resolved. Having people come into the game and grouse that “No one told me about (EVENT)“ will be unlikely to evoke much sympathy if the EVENT had been posted for a week or more on the website and in the MOTD. The website is provided at others costs for YOUR CONVENIENCE as well as all the other members. It would be wise to make good use of the resource. • We expect all members to be ready and willing to help their other guild members whenever you are reasonably able to do so. • We expect all members to attend special events (like epic mobs) whenever they are announced in advance and real life matters do not conflict with the time. • We expect the behavior of members to be friendly and fun, not bitter, contentious and showing a continued lack of supportiveness. • We do NOT expect members to lay down everything they are doing to accomplish the above. Often, people have just gotten a great group or are critical to the group you are in, or have skill ups in tradeskills rolling in, or any one of many possible reasons that would be unfair to ask you to leave. • Power Leveling (PL’ing) is not a reasonable expectation of membership in Mystic Legions. If you want to level, you need to have the attitude of working through the levels like so many of us did. Doing that keeps your character balanced in abilities and skills, that you will need at later levels. If someone offers it freely to you, it is up to you to accept or decline. • Grouping within the guild ranks is recommended and encouraged so that we can learn to work with each other to learn how to improve our abilities as a group, so that we can handle really tough mobs, like those Epic Mobs we need to go for Cleric and Enchanter Epics, for example. It may not be possible all the time, so please be prepared for that possibility. • Epics Mobs that require heavy guild participation need to be scheduled in advance, when ever possible, requiring players to request we plan an event for them. We realize that as soon as some mobs Spawn, the rush for them by other guilds could lose our crack at them. We will address those instances as they come up, depending on who is online and the general availability of people to take the mobs. Be prepared to miss a few opportunities before we can make a successful attempt at these tough characters. • We understand that with our level requirement (46+) for mains, that epics are likely to become important to most players. Because Epic Mobs are sought by so many as well as ourselves, it may become necessary to make a waiting list for players to go after certain mobs. Please understand that it is not that we don’t want you to get your epic. It is just there will be a LOT of request for many things to be done. We have to consider many factors to get everyone together and make a single kill possible, then we would have to wait for a Respawn, meanwhile more requests for help, …etc. • We ask you to improve your Main Character to level 60. We would like as strong a force as possible to go up against Epic and Planar mobs one day. Having a solid core of higher level characters will make many of these battles have a higher chance of success. To accomplish this, we ask that you keep leveling as a high priority. Guild grouping for XP is to be highly encouraged. But do not forget the fun factor. Don’t level just to level. If you aren’t enjoying yourself, then you will burn out really quick. • Let the Officers and Leaders have their time to level and pursue quests also. What good are we if we cannot get out there and be level 60 when all of you others are passing us by?
