Dylanii d'Arias
So I was sitting in PoH yesterday with Synth and Rebma and a few other friends, and we had need of a CLERIC CHEAL ROTATION......and Synth said something like "it sure would be nice if someone could show us how to set one up". So here is my version of a crash course on the cleric cheal rotation...enjoy! For those who don't know, a cleric cheal rotation is used when taking down a big mob, such as a zone boss or a major epic mob. The rotation can consist of as little as 2 clerics with the sky being the limit on the total number of clerics (5 cleric rotation is the largest I have been in so far). The soul purpose of the rotaion is to keep the MA (main assist, aka main tank) alive. This means that no matter how many people in your group are dropping dead around you, you stick with the rotaion and ONLY heal that tank; the others can be rezzed later. On a side note, a way to make communication easy between clerics is to set up a cleric channel, this is what my guild does on large raids and/or battles. The channel name is always the same (ulcleric....for you guys it could be mlcleric, whatever) and we call all of our rotation heals in the cleric channel to cut down on spam. I like to keep my cleric channel a bright color that stands out from all my other chat as well, because when raid spam is flying by on your screen, the last thing you want is to miss your que in the rotation and let the tank die. Very bad. Some clerics even set up a separate chat window that contains only the cleric channel. It's whatever works for you. Other classes that might want to be in this channel include necros (aka mana batteries), and back up or support healers - druids ect. Put someone in charge! There needs to be a leader among the rotation to guide everyone in adjusting pauses, switching targets if needed, keeping things in order, and just thinking for everyone else in general during chaotic situations. Ok, so now your clerics have decided how they will talk to each other and they have decided who's the boss, so it's time for them to set up their rotaion key. If your cleric is high lvl enough to be in a fight that needs a rotation, then they should know by now how to set up a hotkey. For the sake of example our clerics names will be Kiitara, Synthania, and Rebma, our cleric channel is called mlcleric and will be channel #2, and our MA is Rumblebore... First we decide our order: Kiit will begin, followed by Synth, then Rebma Then all clerics set their hotkeys.... Line one of your hotkey should have your casting message, all clerics have their own and the key is that it should be noticable and stand out in the spam: /2 Casting CHeal on >> %t << Line 2 of your hotkey should have your cast command, this command will vary also, my CHeal spell is in spell slot 2. So, my 2nd line would read: /cast 2 Line 3 should be a 2nd cast command! Spells fizzle all the time, it happens, that is why we /cast twice in a rotation...just in case. Line 3: /cast 2 Line 4 is your pause. This line places a pause before your final command and is how you time your heals. The pause will be decided before the fight, but MIGHT have to be adjusted mid-fight if heals are comming too slow or too fast. So clerics need to be ready to change this quickly if needed. In the pause 1=1/10th of a second....so a /pause 40 will give you a 4 second pause before the next command. Line 4: /pause 40 Line 5 tells the next person in the rotation oprder to hit their Hotkey and get that tank healed. It is important that it jumps out at them so they can see it. Line 5: /2 >> SYNTHANIA << Cast CHeal NOW!! Recap: Line 1: /2 Casting CHeal on >> %t << Line 2: /cast 2 Line 3: /cast 2 Line 4: /pause 40 Line 5: /2 >>SYNTHANIA << Cast CHeal NOW!! This, of course, is just a sample and will vary depending on your casting messages, spell placement, chat channel, and pause time. There are also many style variations and not all rotations use this exact set up, but i have found that this one makes sense to me and seems to work very well for my guild. When done right it should look something like this in chat (from Kiitara's perspective): You tell mlcleric: COMPLETE HEAL on >> Rumblebore << You begin to cast a spell You cannot use that command right now (this was my back-up cast from line 3) (there will be a 4 second pause most likely filled with raid spam) You tell mlcleric: >> SYNTHANIA << Cast CHeal NOW!! Synthania tells mlcleric: Casting CHEAL on Rumblebore!! Synthania begins to cast a spell Synthania's spell fizzles Synthania begins to cast a spell (his back-up cast kicks in) (pause filled with raid spam) Synthania tells mlcleric: #REBMA# you're on!! Rebma tells mlcleric: Casting CHeal now on ~ Rumblebore ~ Rebma begins to cast a spell (Rebma will see the "cannot use that command" message for her back-up cast) (pause filled with raid spam) Rebma tells mlcleric: ~ KIITARA ~ get to casting!!! You tell mlcleric: COMPLETE HEAL on >> Rubmblebore << And so on and so forth... It is a good idea to run a test of the rotation before the big fight to iron out all the wrinkles, make sure people are awake, and that your cast commands are working and your pause is working the way you want. Once you have it down, you will have a continuous, smooth rolling, flow of calls and casts. If someone gets nervous and jumps the gun on their turn and the rotation is thrown off balance, take a deep breath to clear your head, and adjust yourself to get back on track. If that does not work and it is really off, then the lead cleric should call for a stop and immediately lead the rotation over from the top. It is a good idea for all clerics to have some sort of target key set up too. The target key will allow the clerics to quickly target the SA (second assist, aka back-up tank) and continue the rotation on him/her, should the MA die. Also be aware of where the toon you are healing is! This can't work if YOU are out of range of the tank. These are sites that might explain better and that will show you different styles: http://www.angelfire.com/ma2/WeirdKel/cheal.html http://www.suntzuguardians.com/cleric.htm http://pub149.ezboard.com/feqdruids24038fr...picID=123.topic I hope that i did not confuse yall too much. Nurlaten
If your a druid and you get dropped in the cheal chain it's customary to shorten the pause. If like in the example the pause is 40, a druid typically sets theirs at 35 or 30 depending on how many people are in it. Our level 58 cheal maxes at ~3k healed, most tanks in my guild raid buffed are pushing 8k hps. You can use the 64 cheal (if you have it) that heals ~5k but the mana cost is quite large compared to the 58 cheal (600 vs 400 mp) so I tend to use the 3k one (Tunare's renewal) and shorten the pause. If it's going to be a short fight, use the 64 one, but if it's going to be a long drawn out fight, stick with the 58 and a shorter pause. My hotkey as a druid would be: /cast 2 /2 Casting gimp druid cheal %T /cast 2 /pause 30 /2 Next in line cast message The reason i put the text in between the two casts is in the past I have had a fizzle and then a spell recovery time not met message following and that can totally screw things up if you don't catch it. I've never had any problems with my hotkey this way and most clerics I have talked to about it do it the same.
Lolanya1
Being a CH rotation member myself (Baldaek, that is) I can easily concur with Dylanii on this one. My rotation macro looks like this: /cast 6 >>>> Where I always have CH - it's a personal thing /1 CH incoming on <<< %t >>> /cast 6 >>>> See below as to why /pause /1 If ya ain't castin CH now, , Ya best be gettin to it! The reason the split in casts is that there is that there is a fizzle recast time. If I put both casts together, then the recast timer will not have had the opportunity to reset and both casts of CH will fail. This doesn't happen all the time, but has happened on occassion. The most likely cause of the recast timer not resetting before the second cast is a near perfect connection, a condition that I have encountered more in the recent months thanks to the cable modem we have installed at home When the recast timer does not reset prior to attempting the second cast, and therefore I receive the message 'spellcast recovery time not yet met...,' I can attribute to loss of timing to raid spam and lag. This is the more common result of 30 to 70 people all trying to interact with the same set of pixels (mob) at the same time. Lola

Nurlaten
Regarding maga's post, the cleric cheal caps at 7500. My post was geared towards the poor druids that get dropped into a cheal chain. We have 2 cheals, lvl 58 ~3k hps and lvl 64 ~ 5k hps. Sorry for any confusion. Maga
Sorry meffio i was just trying to brag that the cleric heal is better... I have both classes and Maga (druid) can't heal for nothing She is level 55 almost lvl 56 so i need to get some of the better heal spells for her class in case she ever gets stuck in a rotation. Hopefully that will never happen becaue then you all will die. On a happier note Tish just got her Temperance spell the other night. Thanks to Rumble and Karl for taking the time to help. Could not have done it alone. You guys rock! Maga (Hunters Moon)
