Balandar
They "fell" off the back of a truck most likely.
MArkham
cant find refrence anywhere to it. If it did fall off the back of a truck it is one of the best kept secrets around.
MArkham
Talked to a friend about these and he said he has a set like this that he got while over seas. Apparntly in Sothe east asia they are making dvd copies from the old laser disc and selling them. So while these are real they are not official and Lucas does not get any of the money from it. Zandahl
I actually have a copy of the 3 movies on DvD - they are the Special Edition versions that were put into the theatres. I do not know if they were put onto DVD from tape or from original source material. They are flawless copies though with no artifacts or granularity. I know that the originals that mine were copied from were bought in Malaysia. I have not seen the original packaging that contained the DVDs. To my knowledge no official DVD of the Star Wars original trilogy has been released.
Zandahl
Looking at your links I would bet that the one on EBAY is the copy from Laser Disc rampant in SE Asia. The other one is most likely the exact copies I have. If you notice it even has close captioning for Malay
Martok
Heh. Forget Lucas. If he can't get the damn things out on DVD I will pay 30 bucks to some crime lord in Beijing.
Swann
What Markham & Zanahl said. They're asian LD transfers. The question is, do you really want to buy them from a guy who's trying to pass them off as anything else but what they are? And has he mentioned if they're widescreen or fullscreen? Zandahl, can I borrow yours? I never got a chance to see the Special Editions of Ep 5 & 6. Are they widescreen or full screen?
Zandahl
I will bring them to you on Sunday. I honestly dont remember if they are widescreen or not.
Swann
D'oh...if they're laser disk, they should always be widescreen. Oops.
