Soke
Ok. Here's a question for you that has been bugging me for a little bit...where are our PA leaders? The only announcements we get are from Sil, and she is not a Moff, or the Grand Moff. Maybe I am just playing at the wrong times to see people, but where is our Grand Moff, Savrem? And our other Moffs, other than Bal (I see him pretty regularly, but he's the only one...)? I do understand if RL takes people away from game stuff, but I would like to hear from them on occasion, even if it's just to let us know that they are still around. Soke
Yay! I was worried! Then, I do have a question here, since I have your attention (Muhaha...my plan worked! I'm so moderately evil).... why are we getting announcements from Siluial about PA hunts? I mean, not that I mind going on hunts (can't make it on Wednesdays ever, but the thought is there), cuz I don't, but I would like to hear from our fearful, er, fearless leader! I mean, in the post about the hunts here, Sil said that she and Isshy would be doing this, but to keep the hunts small if she is the only healer (which I don't get cuz she's good at what she's doing, but that's just me), but then our General, Zandahl, said "We will do this". I have two questions on this... 1) Where was the discussion? Wednesdays and Saturdays are bad for me personally (but if that is when the guild wants to hunt, then I can't do boo about it) and I would like to join in, but I didn't see any discussion...what if that time is bad for other people to get together too? Or what if they would prefer a different day, one that didn't have a work-day/school-day right behind it, like Friday or Saturday? (Of course, if it's moved to Saturday, then I'm still SOL, but that's the way it goes. Blah blah.) 2) If this is an official PA function, which was approved of by Zandahl, why didn't we get an announcement from you Savrem (who is our fearless leader) or Zandahl (who is our battle General guy)? K, that's it. I'm still trying to get a handle on how everything works around here. Bye, thanks for your time and attention, oh mighty Savrem whom angels fear to tread! (Or something...) Siluial
Yea, I'm not a Moff, but as my post stated, Isshy wanted to do hunts and since he's my RL husband and part of his motivation was a chance to play with me.. I couldn't really say no. Sunday nights seemed sort of bad. The hunts I'd been on after our guild meetings seemed to last an hour then fizzle out and that's after like 2 hours of preparation and waiting for folks to show up or get together. Wednesday was picked by Isshy. It could be Tuesday or Monday.. but Wednesday is the middle of the week, seemed a good day. Should I have asked the Moffs to do it? dunno. I don't really feel like I'm stepping on toes. We're there to have fun and I wasn't really too hot about Sunday nights. For one, my husband has worked insane hours all weekend and he's usually exhausted come Sunday night. And every other week, he works Monday in addition. So it's kinda hard on him to be there Sundays and last very long. I say keep it small because I've been in the bigger hunts and felt overwhelmed, not being able to keep up (and I'm glad you think I'm pretty good Soke)... the other night's hunt, Sunday, was the first time I'd hunted since the big patch and the change in difficulty and the fact we didn't attack every lair in sight, helped in that no one needed me. Plus, well, I buffed a good deal of people .. And the buffs make ALL the difference. Moff wise, as my two cents, I haven't seen them organize any hunts, merely confirming if anything would be going on. And since Jagleh and Sesh are awol and Bal is usually very busy with school and Savrem has been a little less-seen than usual lately, it stood to reason that someone could do a Wednesday night hunt and just invite anyone and everyone in the guild. No offense taken on this. Heh. I'm just the doctor, why should I be organizing hunts? =) Well, only cuz I know when I'll be there .. I'm gonna stop rambling now. =}
Zemach
Hi There, Jagleh and I have not been able to play much at all lately. I am not sure when this will change. I hope everyone is having a lot of fun. -Sesh
Martok
The only weekly official hunt we had scheduled was the Sunday hunt after the guild meeting. In the past, when we were all on more often, we would have little hunts every day. Now that people have had other things come up in real life, it has been necessary to schedule hunts so we can schedule our in game time together more effectively. Any member can schedule hunts and what not. I am thankful Sil and Markham have taken the step to have this Wed hunt! Do not feel as if you are stepping on anyone's toes! Sucessful guilds require all members to take an active role and initiative in the workings. Please continue!!! In addition, I have thought up of some more positions within the PA that will be announced this Sunday at the meeting! One of the new positions will be an event coordinator. This person will be responsible for setting up role play events for the guild, as well as server wide. Any with a great imagination and a desire to roleplay can and should apply! As we all reach our final templates, the game will get more and more tedious for us. In order to curb that, we will have to be more active in the roleplay aspect of the game. (enough on this for now, will include this in another post) As far as activity goes, you are correct. Our estimed Minister of Commerce, Jagleh Dresnok, as well as our Minister of State, Sesh Dresnok, are going to be unable to continue in their current capacity of department heads. Therefore, they have both been assigned to the special assignment task force. This now leaves us with two openings. (Will make a seperate post under the forums about this as well)
Soke
Ok, that answered my questions. :) I just wanted to know... and I did point out that Friday or Saturday would be a better time for hunts cuz most people work or go to school during the week, and if the hunts were on the weekends like that, then there would be a less likely possibility of someone saying 'Can't make it, school tomorrow' or whatever. Even if I couldn't play on Saturdays, I still think it would be better for more people to make it (I just wouldn't be one of them). So, that's all I wanted to know. Thanks. Daav_Teirson
Before things started dying down..guild hunts that the leaders organized were great, specially when we were all on dathomir hunting Baznitches. Good money, good exp. They usually happened either friday, saturday or sunday... What was really neat was after awhile the normal group that would hunt seemed like a well oiled engine. Everyone knew their part and understood everyone elses role also. It was, in my opinion organized very well..whether that's because of the leaders or because everyone knew the routine I don't know. I think a few things need to be stated and followed for the hunts to work a bit more smoothly. One is, yes it takes awhile for everyone to gather together and get set up before moving out onto missions. Second is, the group needs at least a combat medic or doctor, and a ranger for camps. We all know these things are important for the hunts but here's some things that a few don't realize because they are not a melee profession. -Brawlers cannot stay with the group during combat, most of the players use ranged weapons but us brawlers need to be toe-2-toe. If we wait for the creature to get to us (the main group), the creature is usually dead by the time it gets to us (and that's IF no one uses stopping shot). Good rule of thumb is, if there's a brawler in the group, don't turn your eye from him cause he'll (or she'll) go down real quick. We're the tanks, and pets don't make much of a difference. -Another issue I noticed the other night was the pet situation. I realize that the missions were extremely easy (that's not anyones fault really), but the fact that the majority of the group each had a pet out made fighting worthless. -Something else to note (again this is most likely because of the mission were too easy), but every hunting group needs someone to pick which creatures to take on, meaning the group approaches a mob and the "scout" pick which one from the mob to takeon first. Everyone should assist this person attacking the same target, it's a bit more organized and will help the healers in doing their job. Will also allow the brawlers to be more beneficial to the group, cause this way they wont be running around to everyones indivisual targets. Just a few suggestions. I"ll get off my soap box now. Siluial
Daav, you have made some good points. I'd like to just add in a thought. We all know Brawlers have to run up to the creature. I think when we say 'Stay Together' we mean, attack the same mob. I've seen our brawlers, on occassion, run after a new baddy cuz it's there. That's when the brawler ends up 70-100m away from the group. Problem is, while the brawler is doing hand to hand.. the ranged weapon fighting is still also close up. The mobs spread out and run up to the guys shooting at it. That's my thought. Plus side, now that I can buff and I know what it does, we will always be buffing first on any hunt I'm on. Pets or no pets, majority rules on that. I'm going to keep mine out. Sunday night, my pet was not ordered to kill anything. He's strictly my protection. When I got hit, he was there helping me. So for me, the healer, I'll be voting to keep him with me. Anyways.. 'nuf from me
Swann
"-Another issue I noticed the other night was the pet situation. I realize that the missions were extremely easy (that's not anyones fault really), but the fact that the majority of the group each had a pet out made fighting worthless." As a ranged fighter...even though it was pistol and I like being up close for pistol...I noticed it was still hard to get in a shot or two elsewhere, after my first engagement, because by the time I tabbed over and hit attack, the pets had already pounded things into the core of the planet. Of course, between the armor, Sil's buffs, and the pets, I barely got scratched, and never died, even rolling around in the thick of it...that's a first. (And every other hunt in the past, I'd start out as rifle, switch to pistol when they got close. This was ALL pistol.)
Swann
This should help with future hunts, though: From a recent patch: "Fixed a problem where missions that were taken while in groups weren't difficult enough."
Chris
a good solution may be to let those who need creature handler xp use pets to fight (not necessarily their strongest unless those are needed) and have the rest stick to their normal combat skills of course medics should be able to have a pet stand around to attack things that slip through so they can focus their attention on keeping the others alive rather than having to save their own butt
