Martok
Looks like the devs found a way to screw up even the city expansion. This has been going around the test center boards and the politician boards for some time (that the number of cities are being capped). So I guess it means ITC will have to merge with one of the mega cities if any of the other Imperial Alliance guilds manage to get their city up. http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/m....id=2797&page=

LordLiberty
Quite probably, you won't get your own player city. And quite probably, no other IA PA will get their own city. We might have to get organised to overthrow some mayor out of office, or merge into some other player city, so that we don't get overthrown ourselves. I have to tell you that only a HUGE PA (more than 100 members) would probably be able to stand a chance of keeping their own city. Zone restrictions are not enough to keep your city. When you build your outpost, it gets only a 150m radius with zone restrictions. Then, outside of it, anybody can build. And when your city expands, first to level 2, then to level 3 ... etc. it will get LOTS of new players and PAs eager to get their houses into a player city, and eager to get their politicians to be mayors. I think player cities will be run by PA alliances. I think most PA cities will have their mayors out of office in the third week after the city halls are up. Syban
Is there going to be a meeting of the Theed Alliance for this? Soon?
Martok
The IA (Imperial Alliance) had thrown this idea around in the past. Until recently, we did not realize that the city restrictions were so great. We had all planned on having our own small cities. There is lots of talk about trying to throw something together real fast for an Imperial Alliance city. For those of you that have not registered for the IA forums, there is a link off of our Galaxies site or CLICK HERE
Swann
The logistics are sound. Lots of things make more sense if we're required to actually have oposing sides to political ellections, a set number of cities, etc. However, what the announcement of the cap actually is, so shortly before implementation, puts another nail in the coffin for me as to the hope I had for this game. Combine this type of thing with their "nerf, don't fix" tendancies, and I think Swann's going to wind up being placed on hold for a while. Anyone know for real what happens if we cancel our account? Do we get the character back if we come back later? What's the wait time before they perma-nuke the character? Do we get to keep everything in our inventory? Our safety deposit box? Martok
They haven't deleted any characters yet. (for inactive accounts) Not sure about whats in your bank box etc though. But I understand what you mean Swann. This city announcement really put the final damper for me as well.

Syban
It's called trying to lower system strain... a clever little ploy that Raph picked up from UO. So how about an emergency meeting like... tonight everyone? Beuler? If we get Shuttleports I say we head south and plant our city there... no use in trying to fight everyone around Theed and if we break new ground we are assured to have our roots set before Rebels try to grief our city. (Like a light in the tunnel that just keeps getting louder and louder... didn't know lights could get louder eh...)
