Spruk
Hey all, The What: I am organizing a raid for Saturday for the plate room, plate cycle, Iceshard Keep or whatever you want to call it. It is 11 on this map Kael Map The When: Saturday Dec 27, 03 at 1600 (4:00 PM) EST at the Guild Rock. I know this is a long weekend and not everyone will be able to make it. I understand enjoy your time off. The How: We will need two full groups to make this happen. Of course if more show up they will not be turned away. Loot rules are Guild need before greed. I think this will be a good time and a good learning expereince for some of the newer people to the guild, like me Hope to see ya there Spruk AKA Ty
Krislor
What kind of drops are we expecting to get here? Is there a certain mob or just all around killing and see what loot drops? What is our objective? Cause I know if any warriors out there are doing the ring quest from Thurg, 12-14 area is for that. Have done that for Mcmikahl before. If enough people show, I enjoy slaughters.
Synthania
Aye Krislor thats right near that area actually its the same thing I think you have to Kill the dwarf thing to get the ring so we may be able to kill two birds with one stone so to speak.... I enjoyed that quest like I said Tell me who you need.... and I will be there....

Rumblebore
More like a nibble, to a Giant nova.... Here is some info to help understand this raid: http://loralciriclight.com/iceshard.htmlI've led over a dozen Plate Cycle raids in the last year. I like the cycle as it's challenging for a medium guild to attempt. As others above have stated, it only drops plate armor. If you're in a medium guild, say mid 40's to mid 50's this is the place for you. As our guild was growing in levels and size, we would do the plate cycle with about 3 or 4 groups. We can now do it with just 2 groups and possibly 1 group if we had a DC Chanter with us. For specific details on the Plate Cycle (Or Manor House as some call it) use this guide for starters. Its the best guide out there, though some what dated as the cycle was changed some time ago to add an additional Giant: http://mikeshea.net/everquest/iceshard.html Summary of the Guide above: Its between EW zone and the bank. First you have to get the 2 guards out front, then 6 more inside to clear (3 rooms with 2 in each). Including casters. Then there is the throne room. There are 4 guards in the room (2 on each side) and 2 on a platform with a throne. The 4 respawn time on the guards are about 25 min - 30 minutes, the 2 royals I think are on a 2 hour cycle. Once the room is cleared someone goes to the throne and sits on it then says this: "the dain shall be slain for the peace we must obtain" Then a dwarf pops up. If someone is doing the 9th coldain ring quest they will need to hand something in to the dwarf. Once that is done or if no one needs to do the hand in, the person attacks the dwarf. The dwarf will de-pop. Then 2 giants pop. Think they are lvl 52 There are 3 waves where the giants get higher in level. The last one is lvl 60. Once the lvl 60 is killed the dwarf you hit earlier respawns on the throne and tries to run away DONT LET HIM GET AWAY. If he gets away you have about an hour wait till you can do the cycle again. Kill the dwarf. He drops a head for the coldain ring quest. At this point wait for repops, or if you ripped through them fast enough and are ready go, you can restart the cycle. If your guild hasn’t done them before, obviously wait a few run throughs before you try back to backs. As you get better you can start to do the cycle twice in between guard repops, but have someone on the timer to be sure. Things to know: When cycle is started no one should be sitting or they will be aggroed. Raid should be on the main floor or no higher than the 3rd step to avoid adds from the other rooms. The giants inside the manor and the 2 outside see invis. So if you wipe a rogue has to do the corpse pulling Only plate seems to drop. No leather, chain or silk. Some cycles you get no drops, other cycles you’ll get a few and then some you get plenty, its just random. Hints on Plate Cycle: -Of the first pair of Giants that spawn, kill the one whose name starts with G first. Will make it much easier as if you kill the other first he triggers the next wave. -Have someone on Snare duty because they do run and if they make it to the top of the stairs they will aggro other giants (try pinning them in a corner) -What for the Enrage/Rampage message and instruct your guildmates to respond appropriately. (Turn OFF auto attack) -Have fun! Hope that link and info helps

Rumblebore
As the description said, sometimes you get no drops in a cycle. Well, that is exactly what happened to us. My personal take was, come to this with plans to stay for many cycles. What happened was, one cycle, bno drops, discouragement, and we headed to Arena because the drops there were "more frequent", and we did and nothing dropped. Basically, anytime you do one of this type of event, you HAVE to plan to camp out. You have to plan to stay long term to make this happen and to get just a few drops. It is not a guarantee that the items you want will drop. Like camping the Ghoul Arch Mage in LGuk. he spawns regularly, but the SMRobe is not always on him. I tried to encourage Spruk in group chat to not let others decide for him, but to take the lead and stick it out. I will continue to encourage ANYone who plans and leads such an event to go with the long range focus that you NEED to stick to it if you want to see the drops. Since this event is triggered, we can cycle through it many times and the result will be we get a few drops. Please, plan this again or something like it, but plan it to STAY and work the process. Synthania
heck Yeah it was a great Raid Spruk... I have to say I am guilty of getting how can we say restless. I had never to that point played a cleric before and well honestly we didnt need one.... My respect for Meiffo and all other clerics has grown immensely. I dont know how yall do it. I would get bored out of my mind I think. (I might enjoy it more if I knew new more of their capabilities) Everyone says Wizards are boring but trust me they are not, being able to nuke the snot out of something or snare it or port people or TL it is all very intriguing. Timing the Kill shot yada yada yada its alot of Fun... ANyway I also will always support ANYONE that wants to do one of these raids. As a matter of fact we need to do another one Synths faction with dragons is poor again.. Keep it up and lets plan on Going and STAYING next time.... GREAT RAID SPRUK!!!!! Spruk
Thanks for the advice, I will keep it in mind next time I plan a raid, which will happen as soon as I recover my mind from the last one. The sad part is there were only two groups how people handle larger I have no clue. As far as leaving the cycle early, I am guilty. I was getting pretty antsy myself. I thought the mobs might give us more trouble than they did. I am use to having to do a lot more than Tranq and haste. With a shammy in each group I was off slow duty and giants are unmezzable, so I was left with tashing and nuking. I am use to the LDoN enviroment where I Pacify, Tranq, Haste, Mezz, tash, and slow. I like to be kept busy is what I am saying. To all who were able to make it, thanks for being patent at the begining. I know I was taking forever trying to figure out who was there and what we had and how to group them. Sorry about the death Nova, I thought ya were with us. Any other suggestions are always welcome. I have really enjoyed my time with the guild so far and look forward to attending more raids and maybe planning another in the future, lets say a month. Any ideas for a little harder area to raid? Also has anyone ever done a LDoN raid? If so what was it like? Oh boy someone stop me before I try to organize somthing eles.
meffio
LDoN raids are not an option. They were built with the intention of time equiped guilds. we would wipe hard and fast. And as for getting board try being a cleric on a raid ( just ask synth ) that is boring. If and when you plan your next raid I will try to be there for you ( not poor synth, dont want him playing a cleric with a messed up spell book again ) And for AFK's during a raid let someone know and autofollow on one of the casters in your group ( keeps you out of meele range ) and saves the raid from sending rescue squads out to find people
Synthania
Aye LDoN raids are not an option.. yard trash in them hits for 1200points and quads if I understand properly. We could not do it (yet) Anyway, More raid targets for beginners are Dragon Necropilis, Umbral Plains, things like that nothing too tough but challenging. Groups are easy to form if you ever need help just ask. Also its not handling the raid that is the problem or what gives the headaches it ios the sense of responsibility ( I LOVE it) (most of the time) The worst part about raids is when people decide they dont want to listen. Thats what makes it hard on the leader. Kudos to you Spruk keep up the good work....
Spruk
Thanks all for the advice. Too bad about LDoN raids, it would be great to just to organize a raid like a regular adventure. Oh well Is there anything planned for the near future? I am already getting restless hehehehe
