In the Spirit of Rome...

Ok, now, I know that it's practically useless posting on the boards here, but if you see any glaring errors or the like BEFORE I post it to the main SWG Eclipse player events boards tell me NOW.

Here are the rules and set-up of this, our first event:

Name of Event: In the Spirit of Rome... Neo-Rome's first Gladiatorial Event

In-game Contact: Soke

Location: Naboo, on the ITC Guild Hall roof (-1600, 5475)

Date: January 24th

Time: 4 pm EST/9 pm GMT

Purpose of Event: This is a ranged tournament. NO Heavy Weapons and NO melee, just pistol/rifle/carbine. Entrance fee is 5000 credits.

The tournament is an elimination tournament (see #6 below), one versus one. The last one standing wins. The competitors will be announced before they fight by the judge/coordinator. When their name is called, they will step forward to the "ring", accept duels from one another, and wait until the judge gives them leave to duel. Anyone attacking BEFORE the judge gives them leave by saying "Begin" is automatically disqualified. The two competitors will fight until one is incapacitated; the incapped one loses, and the other moves on. In the case of a double elimination tourney, you will have to lose duels twice to be out of the tournament.

Rules:

1.) This is for RANGED PvPers only. NO Heavy weapons (ie, NO Light Lightning Cannon, Flamethrower, Grenades, Acid Stream Launcher, Heavy Particle Beam Cannon, or Heavy Acid Rifle) and NO Melee attacks. Future tournaments will feature Melee only, Heavy Weapons, Teams, and a Free-For-All. Since this is our first event, the coordinator (me) wants to keep things kinda simple.

2.) NO Healing during your fight. You may heal damage and wounds in-between fights.

3.) You may have up to two pieces of armor equipped, in addition to a Personal Shield Generator.

4.) Smugglers using Feign Death will be automatically disqualified from the competition.

5.) Primary stat buffs are not allowed. Secondary stat buffs are.

6.) If we have sixteen or less participants, this will be a Double Elimination tourney. Ie, you have to lose two fights to be out of the tourney. If there are seventeen or more participants, this will be a Single Elimination tourney (because of time issues), meaning that after ONE loss you will be eliminated. The Event Coordinator and Judge of this event (Soke) will announce before the tourney whether it will be a single or double elimination event.

7.) Anyone who is NOT present when their name is announced for the upcoming fight will be disqualified. Anyone who is not present at 5 pm EST sharp will not be eligible to participate...in other words, show up on time and stay until it's finished (unless you're eliminated, of course).

8.) Factioned players MUST show up covert, both Imperial and Rebel. Overt players will not be eligible to participate in the tourney.

9.) Absoluely no Deathblows!

10.) Any prizes you *may* have won will be forfeit if you break any of the rules that end in disqualifying you. For example, if you secured 3rd place, and in the final match, you Feigned Death. Normally, you would be 2nd place, but since that move disqualifies you, your prize is forfeit, and 3rd place automatically moves up to 2nd place.

Prizes:

1st Place will receive 1/2 of the entry fees

2nd Place will receive 1/4 of the entry fees

3rd Place will receive 1/8 of the entry fees

If there are over 10 people participating, 4th place will have their entrance fee returned to them.

Also, there will be commemorative sashes handed out for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places at each event.

;)

Melee vs. Melee will come the following week, then I'm planning on having four gladitorial events every month on Saturdays.

Ranged vs. Ranged on 1st Sat.

Melee vs. Melee on 2nd Sat.

2 to 4 man teams on 3rd Sat.

"Miscellaneous" on 4th Sat. (this could be pet wars, droid wars, free for all, battle royale, anything else I feel like running)

Looks good Soke. My biggest bone of contention is what about a person that has a computer with a better connection and a better video card. They might get the begin before their opponent. Nothing that you can do about. I just wish there was a way to guarantee that one person doesn't lose because of the LAG BUG ;)

  • 2 weeks later...

Ok, it's done. The winners were:

1st Place: Imago

2nd Place: Togge

3rd Place: Grendelus

It wasn't a *smashing* success, but it WAS a success. I learned a lot from it, and I will be posting tomorrow about our first melee event.
