Overall: The MMORPG market has been looking more and more bleak. Franchises have been folding left and right, and it actually looked as though the bottom might fall out before the genre had a chance to come into its own. As with many success stories, however, from out of nowhere comes a game no one expected would be as good as it is. City of Heroes is a novel concept taken to an adrenaline pumping extreme, and a high-action package that delivers on every promise. It looks stunning, it plays like a dream and it allows each and every one of us fan boys to indulge in our fantasies of being in the same league as Superman, Spider-Man, Batman or Wolverine. When all is said and done, every session leaves you feeling like you’ve just read the latest issue of your favorite comic book. I can think of no higher praise than that.
