Syban
Some of you have been asking about three new race badges that have appeared in your “not yet won” badge list, so it is time to let the cat all the way out of the bag. Old Swoop Tracks! Based on popular request in the events forum, the Events Team worked out a simple system to help players host their own races. Our Event Coordinator Mark Halash took this as an opportunity to learn some of the scripting systems so he could make more tools for the Events Team. Aside from helping players host their own races, the swoop track droid gives out best times and potentially a badge, so anyone can run the course whenever they want. Although vehicle speeds are fixed (SWG is not intended to be a racing sim), I think you’ll find getting the best time of the day to still be challenging and fun due to obstacles, enemies and uneven terrain to negotiate. These tracks are currently on Test Center and you are encouraged to try them out. Enjoy! PS – Once again it is time to celebrate Unification Day in SWG. Gather up some fireworks and shoot them off with fellow players at the top of any hour during July 4th. Note, this is not a dev event (we want to celebrate the totally unrelated American holiday at home thanks ) - this is just a continuity framework for you all to get together and party! Syban
Q-3PO dropped by to answer a couple more questions about the Swoop Races on July 2nd. What happens if there's a house directly on a racetrack waypoint? WIll you still be able to trigger it? Does it have a certain radius to circumvent this? Jord, there is a radius around the waypoint. Sorry, I gotta agree with Face on this. It's not a matter of finding the best route, it's a problem with finding the route at all. You activate all those waypoints and it gets pretty confusing which one you should go to next. Is there some reason there can't just be markers placed along the track route? GBM, the track only activates the next waypoint you need to go to. If you turn off all your pre-existing waypoints and turn on either the waypoint monitor window or the waypoint arrows, you should easily be able to find your next waypoint. That said, you may want to do the track a couple times to figure out if a straight line really is the quickest way between two points. Ok, I'm really going home for the holiday now. See you on Tuesday! Kevin "Q-3PO" O'Hara SWG Community Relations Manager
