Lord Ser Brightblade
Anyone use or is using X-Fire? Looks like its like it might be kinda cool since it works within games which means no windowed mode which is appealing. If you have experience with this client please let's hear what ya have to say!! For those who are interested as I am; check out this link: X-Fire
Martok
I just heard about it in my PC gamer magazine. Very interesting......
Lord Ser Brightblade
Yeah saw some tihngs on it. I really wanna know if its all it claims to be..... I didnt like Trillian all that much and Gaim has issues with other clients at times. This would be a nice alternative and to actually use it within a game.....well thats a bonus that seems too good to be true.
Balandar
Just downloaded and installed it. Name is Balandar.
Altarial
Looks like something I might be interested in. I'll set it up tonight maybe... although adding even more IMs to a game where I'm usually swamped.. hmm.. dunno if I should try that, hehe. Balandar
Any chance we can get a field added for X-Fire under peoples profiles like there is for AIM, ICQ etc... Not right under, I can add it where Guild Names/etc are.
Altarial
Well, now that I downloaded this.. anyone know how to use it? I added Balandar and Martok, and can talk to them fine outside of EQ.. but I can't seem to bring the window up inside the game. I went to tools and options and click on the thing to let me chat in game, too. Any ideas? I got too fed up with it last night to continue trying. Altarial
Well, it did work last night and I got to talk to Rusty while I was playing EQ!! What I had to do was add EQ to my list of installed games: If it does not show you playing the game then Xfire likely has no idea that you have the game so it will not record your play time. Click on the Tools menu, open the Launch list, and view your games installed. If you cannot find the game on the list go to the Tools menu, select Find Installed software, and wait for Xfire to find the game on your hard drive. Once Xfire finds the game, highlight the game in the upper portion of the window, now select the path in the lower portion, and click Apply. The game will now be detected and your play time will be tracked. However, it does show that Bal is playing WoW when he plays WoW, so doubt this will solve your problem. When I was in game, all I did was hit scroll lock + x and it brought up the window thingy and I was able to send a message to Rusty. It's pretty neat and it works very well when playing a game. You don't use your mouse to click on any part of it, just use keys and hit Esc to close the window from your screen. It just pops up again when someone sends you a message or you just hit scroll lock + x to bring it up again. Yay for new toys.
Balandar
"Scroll Lock + X". Got it. Can you disable it from popping up in game? Mine has yet to open in game.
Altarial
Umm... tools > options > chat tab I think has a box to check to make it pop up in game.

Rusty
Yeah seemed pretty easy I saw a message in the lower right hand corner of my screen and i remembered reading to hit scroll lock+x so i did and had no problem talking back and forth to altarial. Altarial
Haha just realized I left Xfire up as well as my trader person in EQ at home.... I'm gonna look like such a HUGE nerd after logging all those hours haha
Altarial
Haha 65 hours for the week so far. I left my trader on for 3 days straight, I swear! It's only Wednesday!

reneequixtcl
pooey, it keeps locking up my computer for some reason. oh well, i'll figure it out eventually. Also in NVN it tends to make all the fonts in the menus go wonky.
Altarial
It works fine in EQ.. just scares me sometimes when it makes the weird noises when people log off and on hehe.
