Syban
Chances are if you’re not a high roller, a scoundrel, or a con-man of the highest order, then you’ve never heard of “the game”. Card-cutters from the upscale casinos of Bespin to the dingiest dives on Tatooine whisper stories about it… tales of the dusty little ghost town and its blaster-riddled saloon, where the galaxy’s finest gamblers ante up once a year. Stories of pilots betting away their fastest ships, of wanted men wagering their own hides when their credits ran out, tall tales of a fast-moving pazzak table where everything from slaves to droids to treasure charts to weapons to starships end up in the pot---and more often than not, at least one unsuccessful cheat ends up face down on the table with a blaster hole in his chest. But this year, the dangerous and high-stakes game has a new twist: rumors have been swirling in the frontier like Lok’s sulfuric gases, cautious whispers of bounty hunters from across the Outer Rim preparing to attend the game and catch the biggest mark of their careers. Rumors of a bounty that could settle any man-hunter’s debts and leave him with enough credits to coast on for months. Adding spice to the whispers are tales of a rebel freighter, landing in town that very day, its notorious Alliance pilot a familiar face in the dangerous pazzak games. Though the purpose of the cargo and its pilot remain shrouded in rebel subterfuge, there is no mistaking that their capture would be a great prize to the Empire. And so gamblers, profiteers and bounty hunters flock to the Outer Rim in droves, bound for the arid wastes of Lok and a small mining outpost called Crater Bay… looking to win their fortune by chance, deceit, or violence, a deck of cards in one hand and a blaster in the other. ((OOC Details: This is a Roleplay Live Event, featuring a combination of high-stakes gambling and RP surprises! Several running storylines will culminate during this event, most notably the Imperial Crackdown of the rebel base outside Crater Bay, and the answer to the identity of the mystery rebel pilot.)) ((The gambling will begin in the backroom gambling parlor of the Crater Bay Saloon (WP -4792, 3132 Lok) at roughly 3pm EST this Saturday Sept. 24th (1pm PST, 8pm GMT) and last for roughly two hours---though don’t say I didn’t warn you if a few surprises break up the card game!)) ((The gambling rules are simple: All gamblers group, with one dealer rolling a d10 to “deal” cards to each player. The rules are just like playing a game of 21---the player whose “cards” total closest to 21 without going over wins the hand. Dealer must hit on 11, and stand on 17. More detailed rules about the use of the dice, hitting, staying, etc. will be provided when the opening game begins. If you’re not too familiar with Pazzak or gambling in general, don’t be shy---it’s real simple once you get started, and a great RP format. Betting will be high stakes, and betters can ante up with credits OR items of roughly equivalent value. Be creative!)) ((In addition, cheating WILL be allowed! Any player can attempt to cheat by announcing this OOC in groupchat during a hand. The cheating player picks odds or evens, and the dealer rolls one additional die. If the outcome matches the guess, the cheater may add or subtract 1 from his card total. If it does not, then he receives 1 “strike”. If any player ever has 2 “strikes” during the same game, he/she is revealed as a cheater and dealt with accordingly. )) ((Expect additional IG e-mails to begin making the rounds prior to the event, and remember----all mature RPers are welcome to participate!))
