Volonazra Posted November 28, 2005 Share Posted November 28, 2005 (edited) The Ms. Manner's Big Book of Instance Etiquette (Loot Rules) This book is divided into three chapters as follows: Chapter 1: General Loot Rules Chapter 2: Loot Settings Chapter 3: Bind on Equip and Bind on Pick-up Items ************************************************************ These rules apply when grouping with other guildmates. These have become the standard for the Argent Covenant, as well as, most honorable players on the server. However, be forwarned you may find other guilds and pick-up/raid groups may have different rules that should be followed. ===Chapter 1=== General Loot Rules >Do not loot corpses while the battle continues to rage around you. Your job is to assist with the battle, the spoils of which will be divided at an appropriate time. >Ask about the loot rules before you enter a dungeon or begin questing with those outside the guild. >If you are an herbalist, skinner or miner, always ask if there are other gatherers of your type in the group. If so, take turns gathering those resources. No one likes Ninja looters who steal drops or resources. >If questing outside a dungeon, and someone else has cleared an area near a chest, they have the rights to said chest. It’s only fair. >Need comes before Greed. That is, if you are able to use an item and it is an upgrade for you (you, not your alt or a friend) and you will equip/learn/use the item immediately, roll on it. The exception to this is if the item is intended specifically for one class (and no, I’m not talking about melee weapons only being for warriors, but items that clearly indicate they belong to one class. When in doubt, ask someone or check thotbott). If no one needs the item, it becomes a greed roll, with everyone manually rolling for it. i. Some items, which are found not to be useful for anyone in the party, can be disenchanted (by enchanters) in order to collect the materials needed to provide enchants for armor/weapons. ii. Don’t forget about the guild bank. We store items that we can’t use, in case someone else in the guild can. ===Chapter 2=== Loot settings used in Groups The two settings used primarily during guild-only dungeon or quest events. Free for All and Group Loot. >Free For All (FFA) With Free for all, party members have the ability to loot any item, however, items should be linked in party chat before being looted. This gives everyone in the party a chance to see the item and determine if they need it. Manual rolling is required to determine who the item should go to in a FFA. To manually roll for an item, enter the following in the chat window: /random 100. If you choose to pass on an item, type “pass” in the party window. Use with caution. Some items should not be haphazardly picked up. See chapter 3. >Group Loot The suggested standard for any group. More time consuming but relatively problem free. This setting allows all members see loot before it is picked up. There are three options: NEED,GREED,and PASS. and require party members choose one before the owner can be decided. Typically in high level instancing the rolling is automatically greed for green items. This speeds things up and most players are only concerned about the blue items from bosses. >Master looter This allows only the group leader to pick up items. Typically used to speed up things or when looting rules are not being followed/respected. This requires some trust from group members and integrity of the leader. Again, caution. >The others are infrequently used and only marginally different. IE Round Robin is FFA with turns. ===Chapter 3=== Bind on Equip and Bind on Pick-up Items >Bind on Equip Bind on Equip Items (BoE) are drops that are soulbound (unable to be sold or given to another character) to you, once equipped. They are very clearly marked as “Binds when equipped”, in the item description. If you call need on a BoE item, be prepared for people(outside the guild) to demand that you immediately equip the item, especially if there were several people rolling on the item as “need”. If you win an item and discover that through some monumental error that you are not in “need” of it, and there are others who do need it, offer to allow those people to manually roll for the item. >Bind on Pick-up Bind on Pick-up Items (BoP) are unique in that they are soulbound immediately when picked up. These items will be dropped from "boss" mobs. These items are rare, ie blue or higher. For this reason, there are special rules for BoP items. BoP items should be passed by everyone (even when Group Loot is selected). After everyone has passed on the item, those in need of the item will be asked to manually roll for the item to determine who gets it. If no one needs the item, it becomes a greed roll, with everyone manually rolling. Set Items Items that drop that are part of a set, should be handled the way other loot is handled (BoE/BoP) however be aware that if you are wearing 5 of 6 pieces of a set, that others in the party may not have a single piece of set armor and a bit of goodwill with others goes a long way. Typically, the rule of "one blue and/or one set piece" is the rule. But there are many exceptions. Congatulate your clanmates and dont envy their treasures. Stronger clansmates only makes you stronger, and there will be many more trips and opportunities for you.
