Maube
And maube is losing... Well after more random disconnects last night... I got fed up and went to bed. Sign on this morning... fatal errors. So I did EVERY troubleshooting I could and still had no luck. Reinstalling Wow right now. If this doesnt work, I think I may throw in the towel. I am frustrated at the Qs. I am frustrated at Blizzard for constantly giving me the same support which does NOTHING, I am frustrated at the near unplayability since they patched and I am frustrated that nothing I do or people recommend me to do works. greenbull
You can't use the towel, it's not clickable. Rerinstalling should do the trick. Try without addons, try the rage3d.com forums about your video card. After that, consider a fresh windows installation and some heavy hardware testing with 3DMark 2001 and stuff that eat your processor, so you can check if there's somehting on memory-cpu-video that it's generating aggro. But you can't quit.

Maube
Yeah we don't want you to quit Maube. Hang in there, I will see if I can find anything online about your current problem. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I reinstalled Wow... completely overhauled all my drivers for EVERYTHING, reinstalled DirectX, so we will see tonight if I keep getting DCed since it happens more when the servers are full. sigh depressing
Balandar
Or buy a new hard drive. Install everything and slave the old hard drive. Copy over everything as you need it. After about 6 months, format it and use it for your p0rn.

Vanidi
Okay, I'll suggest some things...hard to troubleshoot from this far away: 1) SANDRA 2006 Lite - great little burn-in/diagnostic program it. Hunt it down, install it, and leave it running overnight on it's "make my system cry" type of settings. Given the issues your having, I'm honestly wondering about 3 possible things: a- some bad ram b- bad video ram - not likely c- faulty network card (or likely ethernet port on the motherboard) - this is what's twigging as most likely to me, as it's similar to an issue I had a while ago. I threw in a new $20 network card, and fashoom, problems went away. Could you or Katak post the exact specs (ie motherboard, proc, vid card, etc - brands if you've got them, models, etc.). I'll hunt around and see what issues I can find. Also - who'd you buy it from, do you have warranty, etc. Might be worth calling whomever it is for tech support - if both systems are the same, mention that one of the two systems isn't having the issues. Given that you've got more RAM, maybe one of your sticks of ram is faulty, and causing the issues you're having. Hope this helps!

Waldonnis
Before thinking hardware... Do you seem to get only booted from your character back to the selection screen or completely out of the server and to the login screen? If it's the latter, what add-ons are you using? Bear in mind that all add-ons are processed again when you zone in or out (complete UI refresh...I use the zeppelin sometimes to test out addon changes that I've made), so there may be something going on with one of them during the reload. If it's not totally crashing the game, then it may not be hardware at all (I had a bad stick of RAM a bit ago and that tended to totally sack games or the whole system before I realised what was going on). Maube
I get disconnected out of the server, so I have to relog in with my account name and password Does this without addons as well When I was cussing about no decursive last night... that was when I was without addons with a fresh Interface folder and wtf WTB folders
Waldonnis
Hmmm...does it only happen when you and Katak are on at the same time? I'm wondering if Blizzard has some type of duplicate IP address detection thing they silently enabled (wouldn't be the first company to try that without telling the players). Since you're both behind the same router, you're likely both coming into the servers from the same IP address (masqueraded). Yeah, I'm a network engineer at work...can you tell? It might not be anything blizz is doing on pupose but your router / switch might be dropping packets enough for the connection to time out to your machine. What kind of router do you guys have? Does your husband get disconned as often? Is his set up the same, specifically Windows XP Home Edition
Maube
We have a Linksys, he doesnt get the boot like I do And we are set up the same
Waldonnis
I'd be curious to see if people that have two accounts that they log in simultaneously have the same issues...that would probably seal the proverbial deal. As for packet dropping, I doubt it since the limiter is really the broadband connection rather than the Linksys router, but I suppose it's possible. The router should have some stats logging that you or Katak may want to check out to be sure. Some dropped packets tend to be normal in home broadband settings, but if they're excessive compared to the traffic that's going through there, then it's a problem. Good catch on noticing the Windows XP Home Ed. (I glazed over it), but that shouldn't be an issue now if it wasn't prior to 1.9, since the protocol stacks between that and XP Pro are identical. I may set up a sniffer on my machine to figure out which servers handle what aspects of the game to see if there are glaring latency issues along the various routes to them, since I get disconnected here and there for no reason at all. Also, if I knew the IPs involved on their side, I could write a script to monitor the connection to the server and see if you're actually losing connection with it or if the game is just timing you out. morilen
If that is the issue, a new router should solve it. Not sure how old your router is, but purely based on the fact that you are both incapable of connecting to the config screen leads me to believe that it is the problem. If you can, you might consider getting a DLink Gaming Router. A friend of mine has that one and loves it. Old Linksys routers have problems with games sometimes. We have had several issues with multiple people behind the router and trying to connect to a server or another user on the outside of it.
Chrysalia
you are both incapable of connecting to the config screen I must have glossed over this detail. So only one machine can browse to 192.168.1.1 ? I was going to suggest the quick fix to try go and get a cheap 10Mb network card and disable the onboard (if thats what youre using). Wald: Yeah i know what youre saying about XP Home, I was just curious if they were both using it. I have always used pro so my experience with home is limited. Trademaster
Both Tanglathor and Tuuroh come through the same router. Machines are set up with 2k advanced server (cause I can) I am utilizing a D-link 4 port router, and the machines themselves are toward the lower end of the spectrum for WoW (mine is bare minimum for video I'd bet, and most likely not supported if I run into issues; Radeon 8500 LE) I've never had any issues with disconnects with multiple users (up to 4) playing the same MMO. Of course at this time there is only Tuuroh and myself that are WoWing of my list o' LAN friends.
morilen
Actally neither of them can connect to 192.168.1.1 to get into the router's config screen. The problem seems to be from older linksys routers. I haven't heard about people having as many problems with Netgears or D-links.

So IE displays 'page cannot be displayed' from that address ? Thats very odd indeed. I would try the hard reset on the router, hold the rest button down for 5 seconds and it returns it to factory settings. Older models had it on the front of the router, new ones have it on the back. A painless and cost free attempt at a fix =)
