    Books

His next Drizzt book is out sometime on October I believe... so that will give me a few months if I want to re-read all some 17 of them. Not sure if I have the time with setting up the new site though.
  10. This is the plan... http://wow.thehonorempire.net/index.htm Most of the websites will have that type of feel ^. The news on the main page above can come from any number of forums (in this case two forums from the skullcrusher orc clan message boards). The news will be paginated so people can move through them. I'll also make it so you can add comments (replies) directly to the news item (thread) through the website itself and not have to come to the forums. So... there will be a login/logout feature on each page that interacts with the forums user management system. The only problem will be websites like http://skullcrusherorcs.com which does not recognize the cookie set by the forums ( http://forums.thehonorempire.net )... I’ll need to hack through the code and try to find where cookies are read/set. In the future, I'll recreate the roster script (yes, this is like the 5th time) to work with the forums. This way there will be only one universal login for everything. Sooo.... no more remembering which password is for forums, or for roster,... or which login name goes where, etc. Hopefully... I’ll be able to get this done before Jan 1st since I can only work on the website on nights and weekends. (also around that time we will no longer have our old hosting company.... annual payment will be over). Also in the future.. I’ll work on getting/installing an email forwarder so members in T.H.E. guilds (through the new future roster script) can setup an email forwarder from yourname@thehonorempire.net to youremail@yourisp.com. Or yourname@skullcrusherorcs.com to youremail@yourisp.com. Etc.. Sooo... if you see some crazy errors in the future, you’ll know I am most likely working on something

  18. Special Announcement: Episode III Title July 24, 2004 starwars.com is pleased to announce that Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith is the full title of the next Star Wars film, scheduled for release on May 19, 2005. The Sith are masters of the dark side of the Force and the sworn enemies of the Jedi. They were all but exterminated by the Jedi a thousand years ago, but the evil order continued in secrecy. They operated quietly, behind the scenes, acting in pairs - a Master and an Apprentice - patiently biding their time before they could take over the galaxy. In Episode III, they'll finally exact their revenge on the Jedi. The title was publicly revealed today in a special presentation to a packed audience of Star Wars fans at Comic-Con International in San Diego, California. "For some time now, the naming of a new Star Wars movie has taken on some special meaning among core fans, who love to take part in guessing games before a title is announced, and then engage in debate once it is," said Steve Sansweet, Director of Content Management and Head of Fan Relations for Lucasfilm. "Let the debates begin." The title wasn't the only surprise for those in attendance at the presentation. 20. Science: SETI Predicts We'll Find ETs by 2020 Posted by michael on Friday July 23, @11:55AM from the or-they'll-find-us dept. FTL writes "Based on the Drake Equation, Moore's Law, and the Allen Telescope, a new prediction has been made that Earth will make first contact with aliens within 20 years. Of course once we find the first aliens there's the question of can we decode their signals, would they spot our reply, and what's the lag time." http://science.slashdot.org/science/04/07/...4.shtml?tid=160 Your Rights Online: Microsoft Pockets Patent for Encouraging TV Viewing Posted by CowboyNeal on Thursday July 22, @06:03PM from the you-know-you-want-to dept. theodp writes "Through its WebTV unit, Microsoft was awarded a patent Tuesday for a system and method for encouraging viewers to watch television programs, such as offering viewers frequent-flier miles for identifying the name of a sponsor or the color of an announcer's shirt. In other news, Microsoft took a District Court to task for failing to recognize the existence of prior art for the Eolas web plug-in patent, resulting in a $521 million judgment against the software giant." http://yro.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/...tid=155&tid=109

  22. Your Rights Online: Microsoft, Apple Sued Over Software Update Patent Posted by CmdrTaco on Wednesday July 21, @12:16PM from the stupid-patent-hurt-the-big-guy-too dept. mark_wilkins writes "Microsoft and Apple have been sued by Teleshuttle Technologies, LLC, alleging that their online software updating technology infringes a patent on providing online updates to software with a menuing system to permit the user to pick the updates. Apparently the work on which the patent is based supposedly goes back to 1990." Abstract A method for distributing information to a plurality of uncoordinated user stations each of which is configured for communications with a multiplicity of independently-operated servers via a non-proprietary network includes steps for providing a distribution service that distributes updates for a plurality of different products, and providing a transporter software component to each of the plurality of uncoordinated user stations, wherein the transporter software component at each user station automatically effects communication sessions with the distribution service via the non-proprietary network for the purpose of obtaining updates for each of at least a subset of the plurality of different products that are installed on that user station. Moreover, a user station, which includes a storage medium, a plurality of different products installed on the storage medium, and transporter software installed on the storage medium for automatically effectuating communication sessions with a distribution service via a non-proprietary network in order to obtain updates for each of the plurality of different products, and a distribution service that distributes updates for a plurality of different products to a plurality of uncoordinated user stations via a non-proprietary network, are also http://yro.slashdot.org/yro/04/07/21/15392...5&tid=109&tid=3 Science: Mars Had Surface Water for Eons Posted by michael on Tuesday July 20, @01:51PM from the splish-splash-i-was-taking-a-bath dept. LukePieStalker writes "Far from being a one-time event, it now appears that surface water flowed on Mars for eons. Nasa has announced that, after descending down further into the Endurance crater, the Opportunity rover has found a 'razorback'. It is believed that this was formed by 'fracture fill' from the minerals in percolating water. Since this feature extends through several geologic layers, it argues for a long period of wetness near the surface. This would seem to substantially increase the chance that life once existed on the red planet." http://science.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid...tid=134&tid=160
