  1. During the 2016 Spring Telethon Lord British was giving out prizes to those who battled him. He gave out swords and necklaces. Balandar received a necklace and gave Lord British his cut-off hand in return. Video below:
  2. This is the dynamic Mountain Template 01 POT.
  3. Has anyone found information on the engraving kits? I saw in nobles chat about applying a bronze engraving kit to a pick axe results in nearly instantaneous mining. +5 mining, +50% gathering speed, +3 distance.

    Honor Hold

"HONOR HOLD has been established upon the continent of Novia, south of Brittany and standing strong to keep the ever challenging dark forces of the Necropolis from reaching the capital city and its southern fertile lands. HONOR HOLD is also the realms arena for the sport of Nobility, Knights and Kings…. JOUSTING!!! Here are the Lords Lysts, where Champions of Lord British and Lord Darkstarr compete against each other amongst the realms great Knights and Nobility (Founders). It is here also where aspiring souls seeking to establish themselves and gain Papers of Nobility (Knighthood) by winning a tournament with HONOR thru the official monthly Jousting events. HONOR HOLD hopefully will grow and expand to become a “Crossroads” to provide even more housing lots and growth outside the walls of HONOR HOLD… just as a growing area would do; bringing more “life like” feel to the area. The historical record shows The Honor Empire was created long ago by great Blacksmiths, Miners and Craftsmen that supplied the forces of HONOR HOLD. Many mysterious items have been discovered within its mines and incredible recipes as well…rumors persist that a vast town exists beneath the mountains Honor Hold is cut from. The strong connection to Earth and Fire magic fuels these rumors along with strong rumbling within the ground itself that can be felt by travelers nearby. Passed off as just tremors from the lava flows to the west; one can never be too sure the more stories you hear within the walls of HONOR HOLD. " - @Borg Player Owned Towns (aka POTS) Facts POTs can be purchased through the Shroud of the Avatar add-on store. Current minimum price for a Hold Fast is $900. @Borg purchased a Hold Fast for The Honor Empire (for $750) before the price increased. Honor Hold has overland access as well, no additional towns purchased will have overland map access for Episode 1 (Unknown for Episode 2,3,4). POT purchases will expire around or just after Final Wipe in July. POTs can be dynamic or static. Dynamic allow flexible placement of lots and decorations at will by the owner at any time. Static cannot place or move any object, but have greater freedom in creativity and design, which is provided by the SoTA Dev Team. Static towns are unique and different from any dynamic town. We are attempting to obtain the following for our town as a STATIC town (see images below): NOTE: If you place after the final wipe (July 28th) in Honor Hold, be aware that as it's dynamic currently, all lots will be wiped when we move to a static town later in 2016 (date to be determined by DEVs). Lots and Houses can be purchased in game or on the add-on store. Some lots are only placable in POTs. Other lots can be placed in any NPC town (LIMITED QUANTITY both in-game and on the add-on store). You must have a lot to place a house. All row lots default to a 2-story row home and cannot be an empty lot (however, in NPC towns you will get the existing row house on the lot). Current daily gold costs: 100 (row) / 200 (village) / 400 (town) / 800 (city). Some high-level pledge tiers have tax-free lots. NEW: With the pledge expirations occurring soon after final wipe new add-on bundles are being added to the store. Currently there are row-tax-free-POT-lot bundles. Soon village and city will be added (village expected for R32). Honor Hold Please note that the following images are in development/planning stages and have not been approved by SoTA. These images and states may change depending on the amount of time and effort is available from the SoTA Dev Team. We are looking for players to fill in positions for several key points of interest in Honor Hold (see images below). Note: Barracks may change to @Schneider and @Balandar's tower may become the Honor Hold Sorcery Academy. Guild Hall and Sorcery Academy will be located in the Town lots to the left. Barracks will be located at the town lot on the right. Quick Link to this page: http://empir.org/honor-hold Honor Hold on Sota Wiki link. 5. Looking forward to this! Hope it's good.
  6. This is a massive update, so take a look at the instructions on SoTA. Here are some highlights: "The biggest and most obvious change is to targeting which now uses a reticle in the center of the screen and makes interaction modal. Hitting the TAB key or invoking any interface window will cause the game to play almost exactly as before but this is still a VERY big change. For a while now, we have tried to avoid making our game modal. To date, we have solved that by requiring mouselook by holding down the right mouse button. This means that you can always have a cursor but it makes targeting hard, especially for ranged combat, and means you have to constantly hold down a mouse button (which players complain hurts them after playing for long times). Additionally, most modern 3D games use free mouselook and use a modal interface to bring up a cursor for interactions, inventory, etc. So with R29, we decided to make the plunge and moved our game to be Reticle Targeting based and Modal. Please note that you do NOT have to keep the reticle on directly top of the target to hit it. Once you have a target identified you just need to have them in your forward arc and in range to hit them. You do NOT need to have the reticle always on top of the target. We are NOT a shooter. We know that many of you have concerns about this change, and rest assured we are listening. We fully intend to support the play style our loyal backers have become accustomed to while expanding the abilities of the game. We are aware of and looking at solutions for those of you with physical challenges we have not yet solved and those of you who want more mouse-centric options. Please be patient while we work through this which may take more than one release." "The next big change was related to land and housing. Since the addition of Player-Owned Towns (POTs), the amount of “potential” available land has greatly increased and therefore a potential demand for more lot deeds has been created. However that land is only potential, not guaranteed, until the owner puts down lot markers and unlocks the lots. So we still have to be very careful in how we add deeds to the game to make sure those who purchase deeds have a place to use them. So we are adding POT-Only Lot Deeds." Additional changes - Full Wipe - Please note that if you have been waiting to convert your purchases to store credits, this is your chance to do so as long as you do not claim your rewards in the bank. - Love Story-line First-Playable: With the addition of the Crypt of the Avatar beneath Midras, the Path of Love is playable from start to finish. - Brittany (Central): The capital of Novia! Center of Commerce! Home of Arabella! This will be surrounded by 4 other housing neighborhoods as well as the Brittany Graveyard. Please note that story elements have not yet been added for central Brittany, and all NPCs remain generic for now. - Crypt of the Avatar (beneath Midras Ruins): The ancient Crypt of the Avatar, as found by Aren and Syenna in “Blade of the Avatar,” is open for exploration by those who have fought their way through the halls of Necropolis. - Underground Network - To date, we have added underground areas (dungeons, sewers, mines, etc) as mostly stand-alone scenes, seemingly filled with random resources and randomly connecting to other underground scenes. As of this release, the randomness begins to go away as we start embracing a “grand underground plan.” - Lot Selection Sequence: The lot selection sequence process will be implemented and tested by players. Pacing for these initial tests will be very accelerated with lot selection windows being mere minutes versus a full 24 hours. - Honor Hold (Our town governed by @Borg): Converted to Mountains [and moved south to our new location at the crossroads]. - Performance: Major efforts will be done to optimize performance. This will include frame rate improvements, load time improvements, and memory footprint improvements. We will also begin officially supporting Windows 10. - List Mode for Recipes: Crafting Stations in List Mode now include a section of the interface that lists all the recipes for that station. That means you no longer need to have the Recipe Book open when using a Crafting Station. We also added searching to each list view and a category dropdown to the recipes list for further filtering. - New Reticle Targeting/Free Mouselook Mode: For a while now, we have tried to avoid making our game modal. To date, we have solved that by requiring mouselook by holding down the right mouse button. This means that you can always have a cursor but it makes targeting hard, especially for ranged combat, and means you have to constantly hold down a mouse button (which players complain hurts them after playing for long times). Additionally most modern 3D games use free mouselook and use a modal interface to bring up a cursor for interactions, inventory, etc. So with R29, we decided to make the plunge and moved our game to be Reticle Targeting based. Please note that you do NOT have to keep the reticle on directly top of the target to hit it. Once you have a target identified you just need to have them in your forward arc and in range to hit them. You do NOT need to have the reticle always on top of the target. We are NOT a shooter. We are continuing to iterate on this new method and we are fully aware it is not quite there yet. We are aware of and looking at solutions for those of you with physical challenges we have not yet solved and those of you who want more mouse-centric options. Please be patient while we work through this which may take more than one release. - Claim Rewards at Bank: Now, rewards are not marked as claimed until you claim them inside the game at the bank. Previously they would be marked claimed as soon as you logged in. NOTE: Rewards are still not available in Offline mode. - Control Points Perks: We now have the ability to link the unlocking of items like doors and containers to the state of a Control Point. So as players successfully take and defend a Control Point, we can grant access to previously inaccessible content. For R29, we are testing this new feature in Vertas Pass—for each wave of enemies that players face, a new door somewhere in the the village will unlock and give access to a treasure chest, but when the control point is lost, all doors re-lock. Plus many more, so take a look at the instructions on SoTA.

  9. Original Post... We have decided to hold a 10 hour Spring Festival of the Avatar Telethon from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM Central Time (5:00 PM UTC to 03:00 AM UTC) on May 2nd, and to extend our Spring 2016 Bonus and Pledge Expirations from 10:30 AM until the end of the telethon at 10:00 PM CT. As we march toward the Final Wipe and Lot Selection milestone in July, we are permanently expiring almost half of all pledges during the Spring 2016 Pledge Expiration Event, at 10:30 AM 10:00 PM Central Time (5:00 PM UTC to 03:00 AM UTC), May 2, 2016. If you were thinking of purchasing (or upgrading) a pledge before they expire, or purchasing an add-on item, player owned town, service voucher, or Make A Difference item, then now’s a great time to do it! Thru 10:30 AM 10:00 PM CT, May 2, 2016 we’ll add an additional 15% bonus to your Store Credit! (Read more…) The Spring Festival of the Avatar Telethon will include deep dives, lots of prize giveaways* (like coins, t-shirts, store credits, even pledges!), and even some surprises, so you don’t want to miss a moment of it! Warning: Telethon is Rated PG-13 for Alcoholic Content (might get upgraded to Rated-R depending on rate of pledges) Drinking / Dancing / Singing Rules: For every $2500 spent (new money only) Chris, Richard, and Starr (and other Devs that choose to participate) have a choice of 1 of the following: - 1 Shot/Sip - 1 dance (audience suggestions considered) - 1 verse of a song (audience suggestions considered) * There will be some really awesome prizes awarded during the telethon, but you have to be present in the IRC chatroom to qualify for each drawing. ** This post will be opened for questions as soon as it is updated to include the segment schedules. Please keep in mind that questions and feedback related to each segment will be given priority and really verbose questions may be skipped, as they can be a challenge to shorten and summarize live on the air. In brief… please keep your questions… brief.
  10. Greetings, Brave Explorers and Adventurers! What began under the twin moons, Felucca and Trammel, a full cycle ago now draws to a close. Nay, actually, not a close. Rather, a new beginning! For within days, the new lands that you have so bravely pioneered shall begin to thrive in the gentle hands of all Britannians who choose to bring their works there. Our adventures in the new lands have as a sapling sprouted, but have yet to show green. For our efforts to bear fruit, the new lands will need to be tended by every woman and man with the same bright spirit that drove our first expedition to those lands. Though CrawWorth, Xarot, Caitlin and the others appear to have sacrificed everything in opening this land to you and I, their efforts are not forgotten, nor have they gone to waste. With similar resolve and valor, we shall build that land into a new territory, complete with new cities, new areas to build homes, and we shall create for ourselves vast opportunities there. For now, no homes shall be built in the new lands. But as we tame the savagery that has been found there, expansion of our homes and shops will quickly follow. Thanks ye Any citizen of Britannia who wishes it may seek a Writ of Expansion that will allow access to the boundless possibilities of the new lands. Our future there is in thy hands and in the hands of any others who heed this cry. Let the valleys tremble as our footsteps echo across them, and let our voices rise as one as we make those lands our own!
  11. Update, apparently that is only Brittany Central. It's not all of Brittany, there will be other adjoining areas.
  12. I doubt I'll be able to get a lot there consider I'm pretty far down on the lot selection placement. Hopefully I can find another NPC town with a decent row house spot.
  13. In the latest update from Portalairum we can see the City layout of Brittany! "Hey guys, SorcerousSteve here to give you an update on the City of Brittany! As Brittany approaches its final stages, I have compiled a map with all the current player lot locations and interesting locations you will find in the city. In designing Brittany I wanted every section of the city to feel unique, below you’ll see names of neighborhoods and streets that not only give an identity to the different sectors but I hope will help you guys, the players in establishing your homes and identifying with specific areas."
