  1. So long as you're laughing WITH me, and not AT me. Yeah, those were painful (but somehow fun and memorable) days, the ACMC run. Bludbeerd retired his rogue and created a Paladin tank (Sindridae) back in the opening days of Burning Crusade, and we have been leading raids ever since. Well -- I'm done with raid leading, but he's fantastic and we're all much better at raiding than we used to be. We learned a lot, as people and WoW players, in the days since ACMC. Moving servers and changing some things can do that. Scryll and Oriah! Good to see you fellas. And I guess ZuHu too.
  2. Well, hello anyway. Perhaps there are fewer of the old guard than I thought.
  3. So an email alert for a PM hit me, turns out it was spam. But it made me log in to the Honor Empire site. Funny how that works. Since I'm here, I wanted to stop in and say hello to my friends I left behind 2 years ago when the likes of the Sons of Draenor and Ghostfang Brotherhood left Argent Dawn for the Sisters of Elune server. When we moved the Sons, we merged in with the Ghostfang Brotherhood. Things are well, we're thriving. Much has changed, and yet much stays the same. I hope the same can be said of the Crushers here. Take care everyone.
  4. At the risk of stealing the words from Chief Bludbeerd's mouth, I wanted you all to know that this was being done. A few of you know me well, even after these couple months away from Argent Dawn, though it's more likely that most of you simply know OF me. Well, I founded and created the Sons, and was the Chief of that guild until just a few months ago when I left it in the hands of another to get away from things here, so my heart was and is with its members even as it goes through this final phase. The full announcement is here: http://sonsofdraenor.com/ or http://sonsofdraenor.com/portal.php?topic_id=811 As I mention in the comments to this Announcement, I left Argent Dawn for my own reasons, but this comes at a time when I am putting things together for something new over on Sisters of Elune. I would never presume to attempt to recruit people from another guild -- I have staunchly been opposed to it -- so I say this to you Crushers only to tell you it's not a sad event. There's something new that will come as the Sons are laid down. The Sons of Draenor had their time, and my departure and Bludbeerd's call to disband are effects of many inescapable things, some of which were attributable to the WoW community. Speaking of events, there will be a brief RP event to say goodbye to the Sons on Friday Apr 27 @ 10pm. Come say goodbye!
  5. Yeah I've been reading you out there on the official thread for this, Revile. Damn, what a day, isn't it? I've barely had a pause as I have been doing all this stuff, and getting paid for it. I am sure I'll feel guilty later. There was one point where I was a little amused at myself and at all this going on for a game. But then I realized that time in anything is an investment, and this is a hobby and project that I've spent a considerable amount of time upon. An investment, so today's game-side work is just a matter of protecting that investment. Let's just hope this is settled tonight, one way or another.
  6. Hello, Crusher friends. Tis been a while. Well, you are all likely aware of the free server transfers that are open right now. I have been in touch with many of you already, and it's not even been 24 hours since I found out myself. Suffice it to say I've been in networking-blitz mode since last night and after spending all day at work (so far) researching the responses of allied and otherwise friendly guilds, it's apparent that the pros and cons NEED to be discussed so we're all aware of them. Therefore... I propose an emergency meeting. Why an emergency? With each passing hour, the risk of the cons of this scenario taking effect increase. If we're going to go, we need to decide, and so if we're going to decide, we have to do so quickly. Just the same, if we're staying, let's make sure that each leader in this discussion does so with information about the others. I am playing hooky from the ACMC raid that goes on Thursdays for this purpose... it's just that important. TONIGHT, at 9:30pm, find us at TS.SONSOFDRAENOR.COM -- I'll be on as Grimgor so whisper me in-game if you are having trouble. If you can't make it, send representatives. This is not exclusive to leaders, but if we get overfull, I may have to start sending non-leaders home so we can get all the leaders in at least.
  7. <British accent> I'm not deaaaad.
  8. For reasons that are long considered, I have decided that it is time for me to leave the Clan Skullcrusher Molten Core raid. You'll fill my spot quickly, no doubt, so I am happy to not cause any undue ripples as I go. It's a bittersweet thing for me; I've made quite a few friends here that I'll be telling goodbye in a week-to-week sense, but it's also a great (and overdue) relief. My presence in the raid is a source of inescapable friction (though I've tried!), due to my personal circumstances, with what seems to be a handful of people. To those people -- and you know who you are -- I can only ask forgiveness... with a healthy helping of Understanding. The combination of the following: (1) me being an hour behind (CST) the rest of you, (2) a parent who refuses to be a "dereliction-of-duty dad" while the kids are still awake, and (3) my duties and responsibilities to the guild I lead ... has me less capable of being prepared (farming FR for instance) as quickly as you few would like, and it's forced me to be a bit of a ghost/AFK player in the first portion of every raid night. To TRY to fit in more, I've tried logging in earlier than was responsible, but the demands of parenthood aren't patient, nor do they come in neatly-packaged bursts that are perfectly in tune with encounters in the Core. The raids are getting earlier and earlier, too. I just can't pay lip-service to "RL > WoW" anymore. So... Odenn, brother... take care of that baby, stay strong, and keep smackin them Alliance around once in a while. We'll be in touch, so says my Friends List. *iris, what can I say? You're a sweetheart (how's *that* for a "Texan" thing to say?!) Relikk, if I ever go into boxing, I want you in my corner. With that sword in your belt. Rhoach, I love you so. May Core Hounds always sneak up on you when you least expect them. Lomar, thanks for the kind words -- they always came on those days I needed it most. Brainah, see, now the axe is yours... if it ever drops... ever never ever! And if it does, don't show it to me, unless you want to see an old Orc cry. Goroton, or should I say "Groat-n"? Pahahahar-hehehar! They'll never get it right. Haq/Harne/Houli, love the hammer, love the maker. Scryll, I think I will always owe you a full stack of 20 Dense Sharpening Stones every time I see you. Thanks to the rest of you for having me along. I'll be around -- mail or whisper if you need anything.
  9. You know I'd have been there when you got it, if I could have. Congratulations again, and we just gotta see that thing in action. I'll bring a towel to the computer station upstairs for all the drool.
  10. I could write up an article with references to Blizzard's notorious track record when it comes to their game release dates, but I am afraid I lack the time or energy. Trust me, though, this is par for course for Blizzard. With exception of Warcraft I, which was the beginning of the Blizzard as we know it today (Lost Vikings and that Rock n Roll Racing game don't count ) they have always come out late. It has only been in the release of the past two titles -- Warcraft 3 and WoW -- that they have seemed to learn from their mistakes and so have avoided giving a release date in previews and other official information outlets. Anyone recall the Diablo 2 ad contained in the insert for Starcraft? Yeah, 1999. Diablo 2 didn't hit until August 2000. Oops. I think that was the game where it finally crystalized for them: it will be out when the game is ready and up to Blizzard standards, and not before. And so it has been ever since. I am actually surprised that now they're giving us a real month instead of the "when the game is ready" line. That must mean they're sure as gold it's going to be January. Me? I'll do what *I* have learned to do: Keep on doing what I've been doing. Wait and see.
  11. Fixed. I. DON'T. LOSE. TO COMPUTERS! After spending almost every waking hour on this problem (yes, even at work... have gotten next to nothing done there this past week, that's how hard I've been at work on this) over the past week. No one out there anywhere, not even the support forums for phpbb, was able to help me. I figured it out on my own, and then had to do a lot of ugly stuff to get it back. I don't think there's words for the relief I feel, both mentally and physically, over this. It was keeping me up, torturing me.
  12. An update. I have decided to leave my broken forums up as is for the time being. I have a post out on the phpbb.com forums so I want people to be able to see what I am talking about. Sorry for the confusion. Things look right, but you can't currently make posts or make a new account. It's really screwy. If I absolutely have to, I'll copy every single post and user to text files, wipe the db to a fresh one, then insert the posts manually after creating the user accounts myself, so that the posts go back to their owners... and then tell everyone they've got new accounts and to change their passwords. But that'll take some time. We'll see what happens from the phpbb community. Chris aka "Grimgor"
  13. Great list, Maube. In addition to the above, I have Might Boots. Seeking Belt and Gloves most especially.
