  1. They will. According to what I saw in Blizz's Beta Forums directions, if someone does not make an active choice *forcing the software to decide which of the two destinations to put them in* then the first check it will make is if they're in a guild. If they are, it will put them on the server their Guild Leader is on.

Threatmeter's code was changed to kick in a -threat mechanic after you're targetted and hit by one of her fireball's as of the version before 2.0, Waldy. I don't know just how it works, the only time I've run her since then, my threatmeter was screwy. I do think Kenco is wrong and that the fireball is certainly not a total wipe. Going by earlier runs, I'm normally near the top of her aggro list at the end of phase 1, and I often pick up her attention and get fireballed twice during phase 2 if she's up in the air for any length of time (which isn't all that often, these days). Since I'm rarely doing anything which would garner any +threat during that period, I can't see how a total wipe would explain it. And Halamesh, if you'd vanished anytime during Phase 2 or 3, not getting hit by a fireball wouldn't have mattered.
  3. There is apparently a somewhat quicker work-around than the efforts listed here. Rename your current WoW folder *because the 2.0 patch changed some configuration file and the base beta download won't work with it* and install a second, fresh copy of WoW on the comp. You don't need to patch it at all. Then run the 1.9gb installer that you can download from Blizz with their crappy downloader. It should install without problems in your new WoW folder. Once it's installed, you've got ~10 patches to install in sequence. All but the first were in the 15-30MB range, installing them took longer than downloading them for me. Took me about 2.5 hours from finishing the download for the installer to getting it working. I tend to doubt I'm going to spend much time with it though.
  4. Hmm, I think I'll try and bring both Ronstin and Scryll to this, at different times. One of them, probably Ronstin, will be content with something like his Bloodrobe and whatever he can make himself, or get from his fellow warden, Greenspring, but I suspect Scryll will want something more. He'd better go write a letter, it might take some work to get properly outfitted in a Myrdoch original.
  5. Looks like I'm a day late and a dollar short, as always, but I still want to wish you a very Merry belated birthday, Maube!
  6. ::looks at you suspiciously:: I'm quite certain I remember that in times past, when I've had to reinstall the game, I've needed to input the authentication key again.
  7. I suspected antics of the sort would be involved. 's why I haven't moved on the offer yet even after being told it's legit. I could take the reinstallation, patching, etc., but I seem to have misplaced my authentication key. I'm not touching a thing if I don't know I can uninstall and reinstall back to my current state.
  8. Well, the best to talk to would be those who are already in the beta, Ghules, Tonac, and Chemmy. Having said that, you just prompted me to check the e-mail account I use for game registrations and I got one too. Being told to send account questions to wowbcbilling doesn't look right. I'll be following the procedure Blizzard recommends on their real site, for suspicious game-related e-mails and forwarding it to billing@blizzard.com to see if it's legit. My inclination just now is that you're right, it's not.
  9. Congratulations on surviving another year,m Chrys, and here's hoping you do even better in the next one.

Oriah, it might just be the time of evening, but I can't decipher your post.
  11. The problem, Baracko, is that the RBH loot-table apparently has an extra check. If Baracko=1 then drop%=0, if Baracko=0 then drop%=normal. So it does drop, and not all that rarely, just never when you're around. I used to tease you about it, but it's starting to aggravate even me that it drops the instant you're not in the run.
  12. I don't think the Necrosis writer has updated it yet, Stinky. I was going over all my mods last night and I didn't see any new or test versions of it.

I don't know how much this can be trusted, or whether we can think of a way to use it if it is. But it's a very interesting explanation, I think. WoW Raid forum
  14. No, we were just off our DPS a bit, and that wasn't helped by lots of punting *which I suspect was due in part to our bringing in some new people and some ringers who didn't have the FR they needed yet*
  15. You do, Kytae, but it's still blinding. And it makes orc casters look like BWL mages. Last run I kept trying to stun Katak to make him stop casting...
  16. An epic is a purple equipment drop, like those eye-searing pink Vestments that Kytae and Katakorintha wear, or the Boots of the Vanguard that I'm always wearing. A quest is one of the primary turn-in items. Qiraji ornate hilt, the martial drape, etc. One of the items you turn in for your three-item class set. You get an attendance point in each category each time you come on the raid. When you get an item in one of the categories *they go to the bidder with the highest point total for that category* your points in that category drop down to zero and start accumulating again.
  17. I bring a lot of fire pots for the raid. I supply some of the mats through my own farming, and Maube supplies most of the others through collecting donations to the raid bank and her own farming. I try to bring between 45-60 pots a run. That seems like an awful lot, and it is. Three stacks of dreamfoil and six stacks of elemental fire is a noticeable investment in farm time, not to mention about the limit of my available bag space :-) Maube brings a few stacks of her own to hand out, in addition to the materials she supplies to me and some people maintain significant personal stockpiles for their raiding needs, like Relikk. All those pots usually still are not enough to give everyone in the raid the required minimum of fire pots for a single attempt. In past weeks, many members of the raid have been bringing their own pots. This is a good thing, something I want to encourage, because it's very difficult for the raid bank to give everyone enough fire pots. If something goes wrong and we wipe, forcing a second attempt, even if everyone only uses the two pots per attempt that you're almost assured to burn through, that's 160 fire pots. Trying to supply that much in the way of mats will burn the steady contributors out. I would prefer it if the raid supply serves primarily as a supplement, providing pots to only a handful who were unable to pick up their own pots that week, and acting as a reserve in case of a wipe like the one we suffered this week. We'll be in a much better position to ensure Ragnaros gets clomped if I have 40 pots right at hand to pass out, to go along with the 15-30 that can generally be brewed from the materials individual raiders happen to carry in their packs.
  18. That last root comment of mine was referencing the entire category of roots, not just the druidic Entangling Roots spell. There are several other roots in the game which don't necessarily keep us in combat. It's possible for to Shadowstep to a mage who has frost nova'd us, for example.
  19. At present, using vanish breaks the root, even when we're FFed. Blizzard apparently considers this a bug and has changed it so that being FFed prevents us from activating vanish at all, rather than just preventing us from entering stealth. So if you FF us, we will no longer be able to break your root unless we have points in improved sprint and elect to blow that 5-minute cooldown instead. Rogues have been screaming bloody murder about that change and it might get changed back, I don't know. CLoS might also enable us to get rid of roots once we hit 66 and can train it, and it will remove FF at the same time. Our other nice anti-root ability is the new 41-point Shadowstep talent in the Subtelty tree and it won't work with a FF roots because we need to be stealthed to use it. It won't break the root either, it will just move us and the root to right behind you *Helllooo... :backstab:* I hadn't really taken a look at your talents before. Now Crik has brought the subject up and I've taken a good long look at that Earth Shield, and it's just making me cringe.
  20. Well, I'm presently grinding my tailor up, and also having him create a few pieces for my 'lock, but if I'm still grinding Twilight Cultists when I'm done doing that, I'll gladly send you the massive amounts of runecloth they leave in my bags.
  21. "and the download from FileFront is much faster than the blizz downloader at this point." Isn't it always?
  22. No need to delete a thread, just let it get slowly buried.
  23. The suggested punishment for the stockholder type is just way too cruel. Yeah he's contributing to the mess but c'mon, customer service for a game company? That's like working in Lost Luggage.
  24. Happy Birthday to the Borg!
  25. Oh, I loved some of the stuff in that thread. One of the ones I particularly liked was this nice little diagram. I can just see a cheap and poorly animated round figure trundling out from the rest of the group, pointing at a mob and saying in a high-pitched but kindly Pokemon-style voice "mind sooth," and then uttering a somewhat louder and more ragged-sounding shout of "fear-bomb" with accompanying arm-waving when the spawn resists and heads for it...
