It really does make you wonder. Where along the way did family take a back seat. Don't get me wrong, I don't support the whole mentality portrayed in the text, but the idea of stability in the household makes a whole wack of sense to me.
I think certain governments may be realizing this as well.
Up here for example (Canada) laws changed this year to allow for a full year of maternity leave at 60% of the base salary. Husbands can take paternity for 36 weeks should they desire, as part of that one year if you want to split it up.
If it's financially feasible, I personally would rather trust the upbringing of my child to myself and spouse as opposed to daycare.
