  1. I know! I can't decide whether I want to level or make stuff first. This is like opening presents for me Only on the Alliance AH.... I'm making and sending Hammer Picks to Holyssa and Kadiana. Since you only carry the mining pick, Holy, this shouldn't save you any room, but it'll free up a bag slot for Kadi and I figured I may as well make a few anyway. Thanks Waldy - now that the level cap is raised, I'm a lot more motivated to play on Beta now: bring on da epics! Orcala is almost done downloading the client, so it'll be even more fun Some JC designs use an anvil/forge, as well as require the hammer. So moar bag space is never bad. (vºДº)> ^ point-&-jawdrop
  2. I love LOLCats. ^ My wallpaper at work >.>
  3. Focusing Lenses? *shines a pen-light at peoples' eyes* Grr. No JC tanking trinket? *kicks a gnome into the sun* Great zombie Jesus, that's a lot of engineering crap. ... "Gnomish X-Ray Specs Binds When Equipped Head Requires Engineering (350) Requires Gnomish Engineer Equip: Allows you to see players without clothing and armor." I can suddenly see a huge inflation in engineering material costs now...
  4. Tips on tipping the truck-like titanic Tidewalker: ~Keep Blessing of Light, Amplify Magic, and Fel Armor on the heal soak (warlock). Bigger heals from the paladin = early murloc aggro. Wizard Oil is a must, as well as keeping a healing weapon in the paladin's main hand (equipping one or two more healing items is a generous boost, but don't gimp yourself...I personally did fine with just the mace from Maiden). Oh, farm some Golden Fishsticks too. ~Aside from the less AoE-heavy classes that can easily wipe aggro (hunters come to mind), it is a huge help to have Blessing of Salvation on EVERYONE but Ascoli & the MT. Much of the paladin's time will be spend staring at Tidewalker from his initial ramp, so pulling aggro via the massive heals is not going to be a problem while the MT is whaling on him. ~The warlock has two options based on how brave they are feeling and how well they can use their better judgement: 1. Stand by one of the two blue pillars just behind Tidewalker. +The warlock can run in and DoT up the boss, speeding things up and DPSing in small bits. -The warlock MUST be mindful of the boss's spell timers. By staying close for too long, you risk getting hit by Earthquake, Watery Grave, or early murloc aggro. -Healers will be tempted to HoT the warlock while it is in close vicinity. This is a HUGE no-no, and gimps the paladin's aggro buildup when murlocs attack. -Line of sight can pose a problem for a paladin standing at the base of the ramp, as both the pillar and the platform itself can block lengthy heals if the warlock is in a weird spot. 2. Stand on top of the paladin the entire time. +The warlock will be out of range from any of the boss's spells while on the ramp. -Said warlock will be doing little to no DPS, merely lifetapping and AFKing till Phase 2. Then again, as the ol' saying goes: you're more useful alive then dead ~As soon as the murlocs make contact with the paladin, healing stops, Consecrate is laid down, Wisdom is Judged on the frontmost mob (so the pally can avoid going OOM too soon), and AoE happens. Don't try to heal while AoEing a moshpit! ~At 25%, the warlock AND pally collapse on the boss. The routine here is the same: Life Tap, Heal, AoE, repeat. The warlock will take extra damage from Earthquake, so the paladin must be VERY quick to heal. ~Do NOT Earth Shield the MT! Murlocs will aggro onto the tank if it procs early, eating Shield Block charges, and causing a potential wipe. All of this can be seen from a paladin's PoV here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gi9s_z9pNTk. It's somewhat of a snoozefest (duh, paladin movie), but gives people a general idea as to what Ascoli will be spending a portion of the fight doing. *looks around* Great currents of Ageon! *belly-flops through a coffee table*
  5. You just HAD to post that before my lunch break...
  6. I do apologize greatly for having folks come out for what seemed to be a messy ZA start & barely laying a scratch on the place, but Orcala came first & I had to see what was up. Thankfully, it's not heart-related, but still gave Holy quite a scare (and it's not easy to scare me usually). I'll make sure she doesn't hurt herself by AFK'ing on top of a pile of dead gnome bones again after a hard day's PVPing. It's not good for posture, even for a feral druid Thanks for the patience & understanding folks. Assuming people don't get burned out from their prior Sunday stuff next week (and Jasena fixes his goddamn PC *cracks the whip*), we'll give next Sunday a 100% effort!
  7. Should WotLK implement some kind of AFK-related Achievement, I'll bet money that you'd get server first in a heartbeat. You need to make some kind of web blog where you AFK all over the world, with a story to go along each picture
  8. I can't think of anything witty to say for this awesome victory, so here's a little something I whipped up that may put a smile on everyone's face after the carnage has settled: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v185/maj.../GurtoggLOL.jpg RAWR~!!! New belt!
  9. With Leo dead, will we farm him a bit longer for moar glove love, or are we going to take a poke at Fathom-Lord/Tidewalker?
  10. ...ack! /flipoverdesk So much for using Rank 1 Holy Shield for mana conservation. With this change, they might as well make mana a blue rage bar with a big % sign slapped on it. EDIT: I know Blizzard is still tuning this probably, but am I seeing things or did the mana % used actually decrease with higher ranks? For instance... Holy Shield Rank 2 & 3: 12% of base mana, Instant cast, 8 sec cooldown Holy Shield Rank 4 through 6: 10% of base mana, Instant cast, 8 sec cooldown Last I checked, spell costs increased with better ranks...either that or I need new glasses.
  11. "Maube's Hamfist crits Leotheras the Blind for *censored* damage." "Leotheras the Blind is afflicted by Will of the Hamfist." Leotheras the Blind yells: "IT BURNS!" "Leotheras the Blind dies." Great effort last night folks, and grats to those who got their new T5 gloves. You earned them!
  12. Most likely a new transfer based on what I read here: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.h...37903&sid=1 & here: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.h...=1&pageNo=1
  13. Nah. is much more accurate for Baracko. You even see him use Windfury!

    Misc Tidbits

Extra last minute patch note blah: General Spell casting and spell channelling pushback has been changed to the following: When casting a spell: * The first and second hit will add .5 secs each to the cast time. * All hits after the second will have no effect. When channeling a spell: * The first and second hit reduces current duration by 25% of total duration each. * All hits after the second will have no effect. Mage (Skills List / Talent Calc. (8770)) * Mana Shield now drains 1.5 mana per damage absorbed. * Summoned Water Elemental's Waterbolt range increased, mana cost reduced, Freeze range increased, mana cost increased. Warlock (Skills List / Talent Calc. (8770)) * Dark Pact: Tooltip updated to be more consistent with other similar effects and now restores 200% mana leeched from your summoned Demon, up from 100%. Oh, this made me rofl:
  15. http://wowwebstats.com/miv5bfklppzho - 10/12/08's run. F*ck your couch, Malacrass. /shakefist Hello friends, As most of you know, Shelah has lead a pretty damn good Kara run for some months with many of CS's finest. But now it's time to look forward to something more challenging than the old moldy tower. From now on, the Sunday 7:30PM - 11:30PM raid will take place in Zul'aman. People in our lil' group have been craving a challenge & some different loot, with a shot at timed chests as we grow more comfortable with our group makeup, so I figure: why the hell not? The main roster usually consists of the following: -Holyssa (MT) -Angerona (OT) -Jasena (OH) -Kieranna -Lesedi(MH) -Perthes -Shelah -Bralor (OH) -Clanger -Xephist Potential Substitute List Give your name to Shelah or myself. If someone is absent from a run and you're on the list with free time/brain cells to kill, you're welcome to romp with us: -Burana -Morgh -Wharchylde -Takenuma -Fireken (prot pally) -Kthylus/Kargoch/Kailand -Remmetta (As you can see, we're looking for moar!) I strongly recommend coming into the raid with T4/Sunwell Island badge loot or better/equivalent. I will also be keeping an eye on people not using consumables: no more tankadin-face-on-keyboard ezmode for us! It's still a fairly new environment to some of us, and like potty training: wiping WILL happen. Roll with the punches, get up, try again, and have fun I say. Boss stuff (study them to make Holy happy!): -Nalorakk (Bear) -Akil'zon err, Eagle)-Jan'alai (Dragonhawk) -Halazzi (Lynx) -Hex Lord Malacrass -Zul'jin
  16. Hi folks, Since we'll be missing Perthes and Lesedi Sunday, we will be doing one last Karazhan run rather than risk jumping in blindly into ZA. It's still a very new group, and with two of my key people MIA, I don't feel secure going into the jungle so unprepared. At some point this week I will post a new topic with ZA details and WWS stuff. So if 1 DPS and 1 Healer class want an easy 20 badges tomorrow (and aren't saved already), poke Shelah or myself in-game.
  17. Heyo. Due to Orcala and myself celebrating our anniversary together (6 years, zomg), I may be a tad late for Sunday's run. I expect to be home a bit after 1:30PM or so .
  18. Err, I tried to view last night's WWS, but I keep seeing a message saying "This report has not yet been validated. Please log in with account Kailand (or officer) to validate this report." Grr. Must number munch!
  19. Monday night, 5 Crushers took a glimpse into the future (Beta). Suddenly, a$$-whupping happened. We decided to take a gander at Utgarde Keep, a good starter instance within Howling Fjord for L70s looking to take a whack at 5-man content & get a taste of the new loot. Utgarde itself brought a sense of deja vu'. It was very similar to it's BC counterpart (The Ramparts), but much longer, somewhat less linear, and packed with hairy, smelly, sweaty Vrykul elites. The layout was far from confusing, however, and the detail put into every last wood etching & lantern glow that adorned the halls was breathtaking...it's like DaVinci had a soulstone the whole time & knew just the right time to use it. We pretty much zerg-rushed anyone that stood in our way...typical when a paladin tank leads the charge, plus a good deal of us were in the 75-ish range. Some encounters did give us a mini wakeup call, such as Ingvar the Plunderer (owwie @ Dark Smash), but the difficulty was just right for a team in T4-T6ish gear. Oh, if you decide to leave the dungeon via the curious tunnel across from the boss, watch it - that last step is a doozey... We were short one hamfist-swinging mage, but we still gathered our energy for something new to do on the other side of the continent: The Nexus. I felt as if I took a step into the Black Omen of Chrono Trigger fame...so many gorgeous glyphs, glows, and designs for what seemed to stretch on through every corner. The overall layout of the dungeon was a nice change from the norm: a massive spiral of hallways, each with it's own theme (humanoids, void beasts, and frozen treants) with an Azure Dragon thrown every few pulls for variety's sakes, plus a seemingly bottomless pit. In the middle was a frozen red dragon, whom we had to set free via climbing the spiral and defeating the Blue Flight's various goons. Blizz really did a good job at making bosses different than the standard tank & spank. We expected to go into a fight dealing with simple caster nonsense, but were caught by surprise. Miss Maube's moniker really holds true with two of said bosses: Stay outta bad ######! Keristrasza posed a bit of a challenge to us a first: this is one of those odd fights where everyone has to constantly move, even the tank. After two tries, we got the hang of things and sent this lizard to a much warmer place than Northrend. Overall, the night was a ton of fun, and we saw many fascinating things, and (beta) Kadi got a generous XP boost. Holy got to try her hand at tanking with all the wacky pally changes, which worked rather nicely once I grew used to my new shield bash & 51-point prot talent. Oh, deathknights are fun companions...Death & Decay makes chain-pulling much more fun, and you can really see the mobs reel from the hurt our black-clad buddies can dish out Other pics (click to view em): Utgarde: The Vrykul push on even when severely overpowered. A quest? For ME? Aww, you shouldn't have! The Ironhelms/spear tossers were the only real nuisance among the trash. Noooo, they cloned Gothik! This Proto-drake hits like a truck, but can be dealt with at the same time as it's master. Why do the Scourge get all the cool female NPCs? Nexus: Mana Surges Gone Wild, the sequel to Voidwalkers Gone Wild! Must be 70 or over to view. Silly human - there's no mage in this group! The Grand Magus will teach you the meaning of motion sickness. Kalea was one happy Beta mom that night. Shammy loot galore! Oh--oh--crap, he spotted me.

  21. Fair warning/reminder on those sending mail to alts: you can loot attachments, but you cannot open/read letters due to a mail system bug. I've notified a GM of this Sunday morning, and he thankfully confirmed that I got Verissi's gems & safely deleted the empty letter. Grr.
  22. Best. Typo. Ever. Glad to see you're safe Harne! Drop in on TS every now & then to balance out the hate.
  23. Hi folks. I could have added on to the old tankadin thread down below, but since there's so much more "new" coming out for us who love to roll their faces on keyboards & win, I figure it would be better to make a new topic than build an even bigger clusterfark. With WotLK in Beta, Holy has taken a small bite out of Northrend, and I will keep our fellow tankadins informed of class functions and changes. Don't forget that Beta is still very early and has only gone through so many changes, so don't hold your breath for something super-imba to make it onto a store shelf. Q: So uh...I've been kind of under a rock. How much has the class changed? A: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.h...50&sid=2003 Very long read, but it's Blizzard's official patch notes. Q: What seems to be the cookie-cutter tankadin spec @ L80? A:http://talent.mmo-champion.com/?paladin=05...011251533312321 As of Beta Build 8926, it seems Blizzard has pulled it's head out of Kalgan's egotistically colossal a$$. Let's look at the avoidable talents one more time: - Stoicism is still a PvP hybrid talent in my eyes. In groups and raids, you should take the necessary precautions to prevent getting stunned up the wazoo and make sure other group members got your back, even if it means keeping that PvP trinket by your side. Same rules apply with Guardian's Favor...it's totally situational. - Divine Guardian is a nice Holy/Ret utility, depending on how far down you go. You basically bubble, and become a living Grounding Totem, to a degree. - Improved Hammer is still more iffy PvP stuff. Great for soloing, perhaps, but how often do you walk up to a stunnable boss mob at endgame? - Improved Devo aura is (guess what?) another utility talent. More armor is nice, but the mitigation is only slightly noticeable. Not a bad talent to grab if survival is a major problem. - *gives Reckoning the chess-player stare* At endgame, avoidance will be rather high if you did your math correctly. If anything, this is nice for surprise threat, and the full talent even procs off of blocked hits, but not quite as crazy-powerful as it used to be with today's itemization gimmicks. - Points can be put into Judgements of the Just, but it's almost like having a warrior put points into Improved Thunderclap. It's good for mitigation, but not very useful for mobs that aren't affected by it at all. Not sure if it stacks with TC either...use your own judgement (no pun intended). Q: How will the new "downranking" of spells affect my tanking? (added 8/20/08) A: Until Blizzard has a change of heart (HAHA NO), mana consumption will be somewhat troublesome, but only for a few select spells. Holy Shield R1 was our most spammable tanking mechanic, costing a measly 135 mana for 8/10 charges and +30% block chance. Now? With talents, it costs a good 380 or so mana, roughly half the cost of a Consecrate. And speaking of Consecrate, Rank 1, which was a nice way to boost aggro, but not go over the top for certain AoE pulls requiring a 3rd offtank (Bloodboil trash or Hyjal for example). Now that offtank must establish a decent thread lead so that a paladin just beginning T6 content does not bite off more than they can chew. Q: Is it worth stacking Defense anymore? A: It is for overall avoidance and to remain uncrittable, especially if you have hopes of tanking high-end content. Crushing blows will not present a problem in the expansion, since they can only be delivered by mobs four levels above your own, not three like current endgame. So at L80 during your first raids, all you need to worry about is kicking critical strikes off the table. Do be aware of what happens in the great outdoors though...if you're going to try to drop a reckoning bomb on that camp full of L74 ghoulies, use your head! Some number crunching I found online to help make sense of it all: At level 60 you have 300 base defense. You need 140 extra defense, so the crit cap is 440. At level 70 you have 350 base defense. You need 140 extra defense, so the crit cap is 490. At level 80 you have 400 base defense. You need 140 extra defense, so the crit cap is 540. At L80, there's bound to be a plethora of tanking items out there to help reach this number, since our Defense rating talent is gone. If you're a JC, trinkets will help push you even further, assuming Blizzard doesn't nerf the coefficient and cause the items to weaken at higher levels (Look up specific pre-BC trinkets for some insight on this). Oh, and make nice with your neighborhood smithy. With the full Tempered Saronite set available from Blacksmithing, you get the following: 15274 Armor 175 Block Value +289 Strength +526 Stamina (Roughly +157 Spellpower with prot talents!) +319 Defense Rating Q: I see some attacks are boosted by spell power AND Attack Power. WTB numbers! A: Tybalt was nice enough to give these odd changes a stress test and post results on the Official forums: Affected by SP only: - Holy Shield Affected by AP (or other) only: - Hammer of the Righteous (Our 51 point Prot talent) - Shield of Righteousness (The new Shield Slam) Affected by AP & SP: - Avenger's Shield - Consecration - Exorcism - Hammer of Wrath - Holy Wrath - Judgment of Light - Judgment of Wisdom - Seal of Light - Seal of the Martyr/Blood - Seal of Righteousness - Seal of Vengeance/Corruption - Seal of Wisdom So we have the following: SoR 8.27AP = 1DMG 3.85SP = 1DMG SoV/SoCu 2.86AP = 1DMG 5.92SP = 1DMG SoB/SoM (top end) 15.14AP = 1DMG 31.06SP = 1DMG Consecration 3.12AP = 1DMG 3.12SP = 1DMG JoL 5.63AP = 1DMG 5.77SP = 1DMG JoW 11.10AP = 1DMG 11.05SP = 1DMG And his Math for double-checking: ============== Seal of Righteousness ============== AP: 522 SP: 0 Tooltip: 68 Actual: 68 AP: 1688 SP: 0 Tooltip: 209 Actual: 219 AP: 522 SP: 497 Tooltip: 197 Actual: 217 ============ Seal of Vengeance ============ Note: Damage values are listed as a single tick (3 seconds) with a stack of 5 Holy Vengeance, It does not include the extra holy damage per swing. (Holy's note: AP = attack power, SP = Spell power, respectfully). Q: OH NOES! Does this mean I gotta ninja warrior loot? A: NO! Keep in mind a good portion of those attacks are affected by one, if not most cases, both stats. Take a look at the Consecrate numbers for example. Enchants on the other hand will help make abilities scale slightly better. +40 spell power is still reliable if you enter Northrend in BC endgame items (T4 and up), but over time a new enchant WILL overwrite it as the spell power-to-threat ratio begins to slowly dwindle down and we discover how the new Northrend gear behaves when given to our class/build. Q: Eep. Stacking strength doesn't sound fun... A: There is one other hidden purpose behind the stat which most well-read warriors can happily tell you about: Block Value (not to be confused with Block RATING, which measures the chance to block. Value is the amount of damage ABSORBED by the shield). The new conversion (as far as I have heard) is 2 Strength = 1 Block Value Point. So 450 Strength will give 225 extra damage soaked up by a successful block. Q: Ok Holy, where's your 2 copper on all this? A: Personally, I like how it works, since tankadins no longer have to struggle to find a level of "zen" in their gear buildup in order to fill specific roles. Hell, even a healadin could possibly tank given the proper numbers and a bit of a stamina kick...Blizzard wasn't kidding when they wanted the option to tank instances to be more openly available to other peoples' playstyles. However, to suddenly vendor that Amani Punisher for a Mallet of the Tides would be hasty (no to mention flat out stupid). If anything, paladins will be just required to build up one extra set of gear: pure threat stacking with a white-damage sword/mace (see Hammer of the Righteous for the logic behind it), while still wearing usual BC gear for stamina stacking (which contributes to spell power if you were smart and grabbed Touched by the Light). What stats you'd lose from your weapon would come back from building upon everything else As for you lowbies, it becomes even better in retrospective: just think of how well damage will scale with a few quick trips to Scarlet Monastery or Blackrock Depths, allowing you to experiment with the possibility of tanking or levelling with much more ease. Early plate is crawling with strength, don't forget... Makes sense, doesn't it? Q: What weapons should I look for when I hit L80 for generating high tanking threat? A: Using the lastest Beta build, a paladin on the Maintankadin forums comprised a TPS (Threat Per Second) sheet using both strength & spellpower items. Clicky: http://www.failsafedesign.com/maintankadin...pic.php?t=12786 Q: With Patch 3.0, all of my tankadin gear will change! How will I know if my items are good/bad for threat generation? A: Spreadsheet time! The numbers have changed things far more than even I had originally anticipated. Honorshammer has put together a spreadsheet which list the best items for threat generation come time for patch 3.0. There's no Northrend gear listed: it's all current BC equipment. http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pxRKUgjn9TRr-KY-8OzuQRQ. His comments: I hope you have leftover badges to spend... Q: Oh noes! I need a new weapon to reflect the tankadin changes. Where can I find one outside of T5/T6 content? (Updated 9/19/08) A: Before I explain this, Beta Build 8926 has introduced a massive change to how Hammer of the Righteous behaves now. Disregard what I posted earlier. Old builds: "Hammer the current target and up to 2 additional nearby targets, causing 100% of weapon damage as Holy damage. This ability causes high threat." Build 8926: "Hammer the current target and up to 2 additional nearby targets, causing 3 times your main hand's damage per second as Holy damage." So how will this affect a tankadin? It's more of a buff than you think, despite losing the aggro boost on the old tooltip. We can pretty much use any weapon we want now, regardless of speed. But a fast hitting weapon will once again be king of the aggro buildup, because it will proc/refresh Seals more often while still relying on stats to do the work for us. If that weapon happens to have spellpower, it's even MORE threat and DPS for us, since it will stack with the Holy damage being done via HotR's damage conversion. Psiven, using the L80 weapon threat spreadsheet up above, put in endgame BC items, and a few new Naxxramas/25-man items. The results? Unless you're in a superstar Arena team, Tempest of Chaos is STILL the king of PvE tanking weapons. Titansteel Guardian is the best pre-raid weapon outside of 10-man Naxxramas (unless Blizzard makes more weapons that accompany/counter it). Q: So, with this whole Strength-stacking "thing", what should I enchant my weapon with? Is +40 Spellpower still viable? A: While gear is still somewhat inconsistent and numerous wacky theory-crafting tricks are still going on in Beta land, Major Spellpower is now but a mere DPS boost. Instead, there's... Potency (+20 Stength) You get a threat, DPS, and Block Value boost, despite how little 20 strength may look like to the naked eye. Can't go wrong here, and there's bound to be a better enchant once the expansion is released. Q: I want to see Naxx so bad! But I never got T4-T6. What should I be looking for in terms of Northrend gear? A: A list is kept here: http://www.failsafedesign.com/maintankadin...pic.php?t=13183. It's not complete by any means, because Blizzard is still adding items to both Normal & Heroic instances/quests (like the new Violet Hold). But if you didn't become super powerful via BC epics, this is a great Wish List. Q: Hey Holy, what's this "969696969" rotation I keep hearing about on Beta/PTR? Some kind of secret jiggalo handshake for paladins? A: No, nubsauce. Take that hand out of your pants. It's the new attack rotation for tankadins that makes the most of threat stacking, and the global cooldowns on all our new and old spells. Bear in mind that this is for PTR/Beta only- it's pointless to use this on Live right now. Once again, I'll take a page from Mr. PsiVen on this, for I'm still trying to learn the ropes of it myself: Q: Great merciful crap, Lich King has MORE factions! Which ones should I focus on for gearing up? A: Warriors and DKs should take this list into consideration also. Argent Crusade Honored Special Issue Legplates Revered Arcanum of the Stalwart Protector Design: Guardian's Twilight Opal Kalu'Ak Honored Ivory Reinforced Chestguard Design: Defender's Shadow Crystal Kirin Tor Exalted Fireproven Gauntlets Knights of the Ebon Blade Honored Toxin-Tempered Sabatons Revered Reaper of Dark Souls Sons of Hodir Honored Lesser Inscription of the Pinnacle Exalted Greater Inscription of the Pinnacle Wyrmrest Accord Honored Cloak of Peaceful Resolutions Revered Breastplate of the Solemn Council Sabatons of Draconic Vigor Exalted Design: Glimmering Monarch Topaz Opposed Factions You must choose either Frenzyheart or Oracles, as per Shattrath city factions in TBC. If you're a tank, go Frenzyheart! To begin this rep grind, you must slay a cat named Pitch, who resembles Humar the Pridelord. Loot him & follow the quest item's instructions. Frenzyheart Revered Giant-Sized Gauntlets Oracles Nothing so far.
